Don't get a flat tire in your GT3!
Got a nail in my rear tire yesterday. Took it in to get checked and was told Michelins are on National backorder and Porsche doesn't have any. THAT SUCKS!!!! If Porsche is going to equip their cars with special tires they should make sure to stock them. Won't know until Monday how long it is going to take. Could be a while.

Thats because dealer's are generally useless. Here ya go

PS: How big is the nail hole. Can't they patch the tire from the inside and fill the hole from the outside??? If it was a small nail hole why would you need the tire replaced??? Anyways tire rack has them in stock

Tony, This happened to us back in 99 when we picked up the C4 cab, it came with P zeros and we got a flat and needed a tire, noone had stock, did some big time complaining to Porsche and had a tire located and sent to the dealer.

They look backordered from Tire Rack too. I too was in a similar situation as you a few months back and PCNA helped me to find tires and had them shipped to my dealer. I did have to pay a little more than Tire Rack, but it got my car running again

At first, I thought what a rip...he just wants to sell me a new tire. When I thought about it more, it makes sense, if I drive my car hard, why would I want to take a chance on a repaired tire?
It was an expensive nail!

This is the same situation we had, we also heard that its not recommended on these type of tires to repair, especially for track use.

I would sooner replace the tire than plug or patch it. However, in an emergency situation I would not hesitate to plug it. Though I would be taking it easy. Anybody know how long the tire sealant is good for? Are you limited to 50 miles or can you go as far as needed?

You are correct about they will not fix/patch a high proformance low profile tire, I used to work at discount tire and the road force balance gets messed up to easy with a internal patch. The tire will not perform as good and will really vibrate at speeds above 75 MPH. That really sucks, now is when you wished you bought the "Road Hazard Program."

I should have bought the policy. I didn't really think about it. There is no way to repair the tire because it is right next to the sidewall. I will find out tomorrow how long it will take to get a tire. Are the Pilot Sport 2 N1 and N2 different?

There is an article regarding this in the current issue of Excellence magazine. The N2 would be the newer, upgraded version.
Best regards.

Well it has been a week and still no tire. Michelin customer service was a joke. I finally called yesterday to try and expedite getting my tire sent. I was told that Michelin doesn't have a supply of tires in this size. They only have spares for an emergency. What do you call this? The rep said they just make enough tires to supply the cars and no extras. I said how can you supply tires for a car if you can't supply a tire for replacemnet? Needless to say I'm starting to get pissed. Then he goes on about saying how once they start making this tire for a bunch of other cars they will have a larger supply in stock. The guy didn't even know about his own tires. Finally I had my dealer call and I will have a tire on Tuesday. I'm still without my car for the weekend again. Hopefully no one else has to go through this. It sucks.
