996 GT3 prices when 997 GT3 comes out...
I had a discussion with a fellow PCA member today about the future of 996 GT3 prices when the 997 comes out. I HATE speculating prices because it is usually tough to do, but since the 996 GT3 is already a pretty good bargain do you guys think they will drop more in price? My guess would be into the mid 70's as an average would be the lowest they will go. I love the 996 Gt3 and I am sure a lot of people who can not shell out the money for a new 997 GT3 will love to pick up some of the used ones that people who are upgrading decide to unload.

I guess high 70s to high 80s from the current mid 80s to mid 90s.
At high 70s, the car will be $40k-$50k cheaper than the 997 GT3. That's a huge gap between same model line, and with under 1,000 996 GT3 in U.S, supply won't be that high. You don't buy a 2004 996 Carrera $40k-$50k cheaper than a 2006 997 Carrera, or a 986S that much cheaper than a 987S.
If the 997 GT3 comes with a mandatory sunroof, it might be a different tale.

The potential performance figures on the 997 make be drool. However my 05 GT3 has 1900 miles, near perfect black paint, and is "as new" in all aspects. I need to keep it for a few years. I won't take the hit to upgrade to the new GT3. The car does more than I am capable of and I am satisfied with it's "command presence"

Price may drop a bit as people upgrade from 996 GT3 to 997GT3, but probably not much due to big $ delta (but small delta in value IMO).
May also drop a bit more if the RS hits our shores.
I'm really happy with what I've got, so no "upgrade" for me. That'll have to wait for the 998 GT3, where we should see much more of a difference between the cars.

Someone gave that away and It really depends on what part of the US you live in.
P-Car prices in SoCal will always be stable and no matter what, if you buy any car is going to depreciate sooner or later. The guy who bought my GT3 off of paid 30K to drive it for a year and put 4K miles on it.
Best to be the second guy on high end cars, or anycar at that matter.

Yup let the badge ballers scoop them up and relize they got a car that their trophy wives won't ride in and them scoop them up when they dump it after 4000 miles of holding on the wheel like a scared kid on a rollor coaster.
They will have to get their veneers put back on too.
