Car and Driver GT3 test

While reading i found this:"Porsche says that during development the 911 GT3 997 recorded a 7:47 lap around the benchmark Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. But engineers say the time with the final setup should drop into the 7:42-to-7:45 range."
Whe old GT3 ran an 8:03 right?(yes) And the GT3 cup ran 7:49 Right?(yes) Well the baddest of them all, the GT3RS ran 7:47. So that means this GT3 will be faster than all those. And the cup and RS model will even faster...Holy cow
Also this is amazing:
"No additional weight increase came from the 19-inch (one inch larger) alloy wheels. They’re 8.5 inches wide up front and 12.0 inches wide in back. Wrapped around them are GT3-specific Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires in the same size as on 4S models — 235/35 front, 305/30 rear. But these tires have precious little tread, so driving in the rain is done at your own risk. And with a tread-wear rating of 80, which is less than half that of a typical high-performance street-car tire, these tires will ensure that they’ll know the sound of your voice at Tire Rack."
Thats a foot of tire in the rear...Amazing

Porsche says that during development the 911 GT3 997 recorded a 7:47 lap around the benchmark Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. But engineers say the time with the final setup should drop into the 7:42-to-7:45 range. That’s about 10 seconds better than the old car and also a few seconds quicker than the 997 Turbo. We’re sure Porsche would be pleased if the GT3 matches the Corvette Z06’s 7:42 lap time, but it’s still a ways off its big-brother Carrera GT’s 7:32 pace.
Good read, car amazes me even more, god now i dont even want one, i need one

- Official Ring Time on the 996 GT3 7:54
- Fastest 996 GT3 time: 7:49 (Autobild - Manthey MM410 Test)
- Manthey MM410: 7:41
- 996 GT3RS: 7:43
The RS run was done on Pirelli Corsa System Race-compound tires. The MM410 on Dunlop SSR R-comp tires. The 996GT3 on street tires.
The 997GT3 is being tested on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup (R-comp). The MPSC is a faster r-comp tire than the Dunlop SSR or Pirelli Corsa System.
My car drops 2 secs at a 60 secs local track by running MPSC. The Toyo RA1 is probably 1/2 sec slower but provides long life and plenty of grip on the rain or cold weather. The stock MPS2 street tires grip is great on the streets, but at the track they make a lot of noise and the grip is somehow frustrating.
I don't think PCNA will offer MPSC from the showroom, too much of a liability.
