A430v is infamous around these parts
Wow...broke down on a long distance trip. Like others have said, can you tell us the symptons? How did you know it was the tranny? My father has a CGT, so the information would be useful. Good luck with the repairs and hope you get her back soon!

If the deealer was allocated GT's, then they had to have their master mechanic down in Atlanta for CGT training. Not sure if they went over tranny replacement though...No training, no CGT allocation...That's what my dealer told me.

The week long initial course for the CGT tech involves complete dissasembly of the car and separation of the engine and transmission on a special jig.

Thank God it is covered under warranty. Will they need to work on the clutch assembly?

It was a great and uneventful trip from San Diego to Vegas. During one of our stops, we chatted for almost 30 minutes with some Nevada state troopers -- they took pictures and everything.

The next day, I warmed up the tires on a skid pad, nothing too fancy (nothing I hadn't done at the Porsche Club performance driving school before). I suited up, then got ready to enter the track. As I made my turn to enter the track, the car seemed to 'thump thump'. I was sure I had a cone stuck under the car. I back up, get out, and look under. No cone?!!

I then go back to the pits and make some slow tight circles. My friend tells me that my rear wheels are turning at the same rate (they shouldn't be). Seemed like something was up with the differential. I drove it around a bit more in 1st gear in circles slowly and in straight lines, forwards and backwards, and the thumping got worse, especially when turning.

It really sucked as I hadn't even gone out to the track yet. I drive the car off the track and park it waiting for the tow truck. I told my dealer that even though I'd always say I hadn't track the car, this time I really hadn't!

I did, however, rent a Radical and tracked the rest of the day in it. That's a pretty fun little car... sequential shifter, open wheel, and loud as ****. Loads of fun.

Anyway, I feel I didn't do anything out of the ordinary in the GT, nothing I wouldn't do in my 'minivan' as I warmed up the tires.

I am going to push hard to find out exactly what happened, cause if it was driver error, I sure don't want to do it again. If it wasn't, I want to know what failed, and that would make me feel better, too.

Picked up my car today! New transmission and drives great (it's like I got the first 7500 miles for free )! As soon as I find out what happened, I'll post it.

There's no way it is Driver Error. The car was meant to be driven as you have described. Mostly likely a simple mechanical failure when stressed on the pad -- happens even to CGTs I guess. Looking forward to hearing exactly what happened and why...etc. Glad you have your baby back.
