CGT insurance

hey guys, im actually making this post for my father. He recently bought a Guards Red CGT from Niello Porsche. Anyways, he is trying to get insurance for the car so they can ship it here, but he is having trouble finding a company to isure it. The best thing he has found so far is a company to isure up to 5000 miles a year...he was planning on putting around 10k a year. Does anybody have any suggestions on what company to look into. Thanks!

Try Liberty Mutual...we're using them for all our cars, including the CGT. I don't have the numbers on me, but from what I can remember, absolutely positive max coverage, I believe 3,000 miles per year (certain they can do more), for a little over $2,000 per year, restricted to two drivers only though, my father and I. Hope that helps.

Cheers,
-Nick

I have about half 'a dozen cars insured in combination with my house via Chubb.

I actually pay less for the Carrera GT than I do for my 996TT cabriolet.

I don't know why it is so low, and I asked twice for confirmation, but I'm not complaining.

One would have expected him to have the coverage before purchasing the CGT any way, what other cars does he own 'coz that could make a huge difference in getting the car insured too ...if you know what i mean

Make sure they don't think it's a boxster. I think others have had this issue also.

As luck would have it, Mr. Kram, you are right on the money with your tip.

I just opened my renewal packet from Chubb and notice that they have the CGT listed with an "agreed value" of $44,091

I just now called my insurance agent to have a more thorough look into the situation. I fear that my rates may go up for this car. If the rates go up enough, I'll just switch back to my old carrier and pay about $2,300/yr.

Good thing you didn't have to make a claim.

All is well.

My agent just called to say that he had talked to the carrier's underwriter and the way-too-low "agreed value" was a typo or computer SNAFU of some kind. They will mail new, corrected coverage statements before the next coverage term begins. The agent's web link to the insurer showed the correct vehicle value and the underwriter assured him that my present coverage as well as the subsequent coverage was correctly in force.

Whew!

Same low price as before

ahhhh, i have finally been approved by the mods to post freely.

5,000 for each of us, that would be nice. I will definitly get my fair share of driving, i doubt it will be 5,000 miles.

as for the insurance, we ended up goin with farmers, 5000 miles a year full coverage for $1250 each 6 months. And i checked, that is for a CGT, not boxter, even though the vin is a boxter vin...

can anybody tell me why it has a boxter vin #?

so it should arrive on thursday by intercity trucking, i will post pics of it ASAP!!!!

thanks for all of your responses

Not nearly as bad as I envisioned. Do you guys have perfect/near-perfect records?
