$1.6 million is a high asking price for that car.
That was Dan Kennedy of Scottsdale. He sold the car to the current owner who lives in Atlanta.
Yes, this is true, but it is not done for free.
No, according to the F1 book Driving Ambition and other sources, the two owned by the Sultan are black with graphics.

But it is an "asking price" of course, so who knows what the real number will turn out to be...

The F1 that started this thread is chassis #038 and currently belongs to Bruce Weiner.
If you can't make it to Lambo Atlanta to check out the car, here are some better photos along with a gallery link below:

I actually think the price is quite reasonable for this F1. Other road cars have sold for $1.8M in the past year and one did not have all the updates that this car has, much less some of the custom accessories that were added. The mileage shouldn't be a factor on this car as long as it's been well maintained based on the factory service intervals, and I believe that it has been.
This car was originally silver and was sold to someone in Germany. Dan Kennedy of Scottsdale, AZ purchased this car in late 2001 and had McLaren give it a thorough refit at the factory in England, changing almost everything on the car to suit his personal taste and satisfy all of his electronic gadget desires. Dan was the owner with the matching Hummer H2.
In between Dan and Bruce this F1 had another owner for a short period of time in the Houston area. I'm fairly certain that was Alfredo Brener. He had purchased a different F1 several years back that he ended up selling before he was able to federalize it. Mr Brener couldn't have owned #038 for more than about 6 months though before selling it on to Mr Weiner.

As for some of the other comments in the thread.
Frank Selldorff is the F1 owner associated with Turner Motorsports. He did have 3 F1s, including one of the orange F1 LMs, but as mentioned the LM was sold to Raplh Lauren at the end of 2004. His silver road car (#068) was sold last July leaving him with only the black F1 road car, #007.
This is certainly true, but it's not a free service. McLaren runs the Customer Care program out of the original F1 assembly factory and services and maintains F1s. For those who'd like a different look for their F1, or who need repair work after a crash they can literally rebuild the car as new. There are also several upgrades that have been developed over the years that can be fitted to an F1 such as HID headlights, upgraded A/C and cooling systems, built in Valentine One radar detector, etc. Bascially if you can dream it up and are willing to pay, McLaren will find a way to add it to an F1. Some cars have even had a real radio fitted. You'll recall that Gordon Murray chose not to fit the car with a radio.
Here are scans of an article printed in McLaren's own "RacingLine" magazine that describe the Customer Care program in more detail:
Here's is the list of upgrades on #038 that Dan Kennedy outlined when he was selling the car:
One of a Kind Orange Kandy Paint
Black & Orange Interior
Removable F1 Steering Wheel
Carbon Fiber Kick Plates & Doorpulls
Custom Matched Luggage
Color Matched Engine
Matching Orange Tool Chest
Integrated Communications System
- CDMA & GSM Phone
- 3 way Intercom with Headsets
- 2 way Radio
- Noise Canceling Headsets
World Wide Navigation System
Wide Screen Video Monitor
100GB MP3 System (20K+ songs)
Front & Rear Radar Detector
Oversized Radiator & Fans
Upgraded A/C
Wide view racing mirrors
Xenon Lights

The dealership has also listed the car on Ebay in case anyone has a few million hiding in their PayPal account that they don't know what to do with:

Marketprice for a McLaren in excellent condition should be around $1.25 million. That price is a little high. SVAG also has a yellow one selling for about $1.9 million. For cars like that though, its really whatever anyone is willing to spend. Its such an exclusive car, that an owner can ask what he wants. There will always be someone out there who is willing to buy.

M F1 is a nice car to have, ppl who can afford it shouldn't care about money anyway. But if I have $1.6M to spend, I might go for 1 Enzo + 1 CGT, anyone agree?
