ripping down the front straight at Buttonwillow...feeling very self satisfied having passed a couple of ZO-6 Corvettes that lap that were boiling their brake fluid...when..."holy crap"...Mark Martin passes me like I was tied to a tree...WTF?

ok...don't need the flames...it wasn't Mark Martin but it was one of his Winston Cup road cars, with a very good driver...about 3,400 lbs and 800 hp...it was pretty fast...not having seen it in the paddock or hot pit it was a real surprise to have it go by on the track...sorry you don't see the humor...sometimes this forum sucks...

Last year at one of our VARA events, they had a few of these retired racers. They would blow by on the straights, then you could catch them when they usually went off track on the corners.

I was at the autobahn country club last year for a lapping day and was passing every car I came up to. Had not been passed all day and then all of a sudden by myself saw a blue flag. I thought to myself, well this is strange, perhaps they made a mistake. I look back and because I was coming around a couple twists I did not see anyone, about 4 secs later coming into a turn I had a Trans AM Corvette right on my ***. It was awesome to see and a lot of fun to watch him pull away like I was dragging an anchor.

 

 

hey Chris...nice rock you got Michelle! Was running with Checkered Flag...this guy was a pretty good driver...never saw him go off. I think the GT1 Camaro that was running had an off in the afternoon

 

can you purchase one of those privately?

 

Chuck, bet it sounded great, right? Ya gotta love it when your ribs rattle as something like that blows by. Ever seen a baby grand on track? Those are fun too. A scaled down nascar, and the damned things are pretty quick! Hope you had something protecting the front of your gorgeous car so those slicks didn't kick up rocks and chip it all up.

 

It rattled everything "D" (one of the few cars louder than mine)...fortunately I was catching another car, which he also passed and that poor sucker got the marbles/rock shower...
