GT2 Bad Differential - Warranty work rejected

I took my 2003 GT2 to Newport Porsche for them to warranty a bad LSD.
They said my car is heavily modified and Porsche will not cover the LSD replacement under its warranty.

Anyone has similar experience?

I guess I will just replace the bad unit with a racing diff. and probably upgrade the clutch set as well.

Was it the silver one with GMG plates?
Yeah that car is very modified to say the least.
Too bad they would not treat you right though, that dealer should just do the work and keep you happy.

I also saw your car on the rack there a few weeks back. Seems Newport is not the place to go for Warranty work! They let me down as well.

Hoehn in Carlsbad has not been very mod freindly to me at all with my supercharger setup. I have been turned down on some work a few times.

That sounds like an extreme mod, I would call them anyway..explain the situ and see if they will do it.
otherwise just fork out the money for a racing diff and be better off anyway.

Recently I was buying an extended warranty through the guys at Newport. In order to get the extension, my car had to undergo a 200 point inspection in their service department. They were so unfamiliar with the GT2 that it nearly didn't pass the inspection because they thought it was modified. They called me repeatedly saying they couldn't do the warranty because I lowered it, modded the airbox, modified the suspension, etc, etc...

I understand the car your talking about is heavily modded, but mine isn't. Maybe Newport just isn't the right place to be taking our stuff anyway, at least for warranty work or important repairs? Geese... if they didn't know enough about my GT2 to know that it wasn't lowered, how are they gonna know it uses a different clutch, cams, airbox, etc. if I ever need them (hopefully I won't )?

Porsche NA is aware of the LSD problem so the mod excuse they used on you is BULL ****!
My dealer wanted to pull the complete motor and trans as a unit which is ridiculous to service the LSD under warranty...My tech and I had the diff out in no time and is currently on one of my lifts
I am having my diff rebuilt with Porsche Motorsport parts and modified as well by Fabryce at GMG
By the way my GT2 is modded to the hilt and didn't seem to bother my dealer
Complain to Porsche...

Newport is the wrong dealer! Long story, but they turned me down as well and created a nightmare for me along with a $2500.00 bill for a fouled plug. Stay away from them.

I decided to go with more ramping on the diff and change to a revised gear
ration on 3, 4 and 5th.
Car is in GMG racing now.

Vincentdds,

Sure I will update you on the changes.

I remember you posted a while back ago about your new tires for GT2.
I don't remember what kind of track tires are you using?
Is it Hoosiers?

/THx.

Newport is completely reliant on "non-enthusiasts", i.e. those who don't know the difference. I will never, under any circumstances, give them my business despite the fact that I live 10 minutes away.
