Euro VIN on GT2?

My buddy found a low mileage, 1-owner GT2, that claims to have EURO VIN, but a U.S. title. Is there anything he needs to worry about?

Does that just mean the car was ordered for and delivered to the owner in Europe and then they brought it here to the states and titled it?

Thanks in advance.

Smoltz is infamous around these parts
It's probably a euro spec car that was directly imported. I'm guessing it's an 02. I have seen a few direct import GT2s avialble over the past few years (particularly 02s, before it was clear if Porshce would be offering the GT2 in America) If he's registering it in the same state as the current owner he won't have any issues. If he's going to be registering it in another state, that's a different ball of wax but the bottom line is that it's going to vary by state. Some states will register anything as long as it's titled, other states are not so flexible.

Beyond that, I can't tell you what you would need. However, I would say that if he's going to be registering the car in a state that is more strict, he's going to need all of the paperwork that indicates that the car was proerly federalized to DOT specifications. I'm sure others will be able to chime in with more specifics.

My GT2 is a US car. From what I've heard, I wanted to stay away from the Euro VIN cars.

there are more cons than pros buying a Euro spec in US. trying to talk him out of it. for the money spending it's not worth going through the hassle unless he knows all the facts & not care about it.

AHHH I just reread the post. One of our members does have a Euro Vin GT2, it's an 01. I still wanted to stay away from the Euro cars, I've heard that you can have difficulty reselling and registering them, that's what I was told at least.
