The GT3 is street legal, the Cup is not. Search for photos of a cup car and you will be able to tell a lot just by sight, a cup car is a track car, used for competitive racing and some use them for DE events. Cup cars basically have no interior, one racing seat, harnesses, roll cage, etc......

You never stated what level of knowledge you have attained about these 2 cars so I started by the basics as I do not own a cup car and was just offering basic differences for you.

Bosche racing Motronic, the gearbox has shorter gears, centerlock wheels, pop off steering wheel, carbon fiber wing and doors, wider wheels, race slicks, lower stiffer suspension, tilted radiator, slots on the uppper front bumper, no varioram, full cage, race type clutch and solid flywheel, steel syncronizers,...

just to name a few.

Yes, I failed to mention my prior knowledge, but there is was no need to use the rolleyes smilie. Let us just end it there.

Thank you for your information, Sloth I noticed you're in Naples. I'm in Port Charlotte, it's north of Fort Myers.

Port Charlotte, I know right where you are. You should come out to the PCA club race at Sebring (2/13-15) and see the differences between the cup cars and the street cars first hand. What dealership are you getting the TT from and when do you expect her in?

GT3 vs. Cup car

Sunseal, this issue was covered at great length in a prior issue of Panorama, the PCA magazine publication last Fall. I can't quite remember the exact month, but I will search for it. The post would be too long, but believe me, it's interesting reading. Perhaps, you could contact PCA (www.pca.org) and get a back copy. They have a table of similarities and differences in the article and photographs.

Mike.

The issue where this topic is covered in depth is: Porsche Panorama from PCA, September 2003, pp. 50-59. Keep in mind that aside from other modifications, they claim that the Cup car is nearly 500 lbs. lighter!
