I also saw the car that had been rear ended and a 997 with that much damage would probably be 10-20K to repair based on how bad things are underneath. You can't replace a bumper for 1-2K with paint by a reputable shop.
Don't get me wrong, I agree the CGT is VERY expensive to repair and probably about 10 times more expensive than a 997, but your estimate of 100 times is not realistic.
