Did you guys catch Jay Leno's CGT comment on Payback?

They aired a show tonight called Payback where Jay Leno gave a C6 convertible to a comedy club owner. He was saying that his Z06 Corvette is something you could drive hard without fear of breaking it. Then he mentioned that a buddy of his has a CGT (he has a CGT as well) and bumped a curb that resulted in $135k in damage and none of the damage was visible!

I would think that Leno knows better, b-u-t when I'm talking to non-car-luvin' types, I generally pronouce it Porsh. There have been enough occasions where it's obvious everyone in the room thinks you're being a pretentious ***** by pronouncing it Porsh-uh that I try and drop it down to the lowest common denominator.

He said "$13x,000 in damage from a curb, and that you couldn't even notice." So maybe he was rounding up to make the point

I was interested in that one while looking for a GT2. It had a sales pending and then I guess the buyer backed out.

I am curious to know what happened to cause the sale to fall through.

I saw one that was rear-ended by a plumbing truck. Would've been $1-2k damage on a 997. For the CGT, 6 months in the shop and $150k later....ouch

Exactly, one bump of a curb from the wrong angle could bend an A arm in a normal car. I was unfortunate enough to do this once in high school. A bump in a CGT could crack a suspension mounting point or something. Carbon chassis = $$$

BTW: Love your new avatar Matt!

Maybe someone slammed into a curb at 25-30 MPH?

That could do some serious damage that wouldn't be visible from 20 ft away.
