Which one: 996GT2 vs. 997GT3
#31
Definitely the 993GT2, 993 TTS and 993 RS hold their values pretty well, and we could expect their market prices to go higher.
Personally, I think that the 996 GT2 prices will take a hit when the 997 GT2 is announced. The entire 996 series lost the classic 911 lines, and that hurts the market value. 996 GT3, 996 GT3RS (check UK prices), 996 TTS, 996 GT2 might take a bigger hit than the 993 series.
At this point, there is not a single new Porsche I could buy in the near future, Porsche decision to convert the GT cars in daily commuters, means they lost one customer.
Most likely, I would get a certified GT2 when my warranty is close to expire on my GT3 in 2008. A 2004 GT2 with the Porsche extended warranty will take me until 2010.
All the suspension parts from my GT3 will go to the GT2, an entirely re-geared transmission and quite a few power mods. That should be enough to spank every 997 series car, F-cars, L-cars and any 996 GT3.

You are the man! That is totally true! I talked to my wife yesterday nite, guess what she said: Why spend $100K+ for only 2 seats? You can drive my 323Ci if you want a coupe....

02 GT2 with 28k miles, buy it now of 118k. Not saying it will sell at that price, but its still up there!

I will keep you posted on my GT2 project... what you are talking about doing is already being done to my car... it's basically what the factory would have done if they had made a GT2-RS... even the RS cage is waiting on Arling's shop floor to be installed. Of course, it will have various ERP parts, JRZ or Motons, and a slight power boost from Ruf... should be the perfect car for me, and it will spank almost anything out there once it is set up correctly.

GT2 or 997Gt3
Buy the GT2 and take advantage of the huge depreciation, like I did, that has already happened. Anyone out there thinking that 997GT3/Turbo prices won't fall like 996 prices are are living in a different world.
Best of luck with your decision,
Pete
