What is the deactivation bar? How does it install? Do you have a links or additional information?

Thanks Again for your help...my son really appreciates it He really wants to go for a ride in "Big Jet" (that's what he calls it, from the Little Einsteins TV show).
i have gt3, the deactivation kit will work for all 996 cars. the deactivation bar is part of the kit, under the seat, you plug in the male buckle (like seat belt buckle) that turns off the bag.

the recaro you show should work. i use the one with ear speakers as it was on sale last year for something ridiculously cheap like 150/ea.

Another option is to have a rear seatbelt installed and use a britax in the rear area. The mount points should be there in the car under the carpet. I have heard of people doing this and they even say the rear seats without the padding are more comfortable for their kids. I would assume a car seat could fit back there also. BTW: Welcome to my world, the main reason I can't buy a GT3 or a F430... Need space for wife and kid.

Ease of use
Car seat ease of use includes judgments on installation, placing the child in the car seat, and removing the child.

It doesn't matter if you have the stock or euro seats as the wiring harness is not part of the seat but will be found under the seat on the floorboard and is a simple plug in connection. best of luck and enjoy the rides w/ your son. my kids absolutely love riding in the vroom vroom car.
Shrews is dead on. Had the deactivation kit and the Porsche Zoom (really a Britax Roundabout albeit with an extra belt to clip into the deactivation buckle) in my 02 996 with the stock seats and it worked fine when I switched to the Euro GT3 seat. There is no difference at all now in my GT3. It works for all seats in all 996's. Just don't let the dealer do it because they charge too much and know less than a dedicated, PCA oriented mechanic.

Fantastic! Now do you have a porsche brand seat, or do you have another brand like Recaro?

Thanks!

Guys that is encouraging to hear that some have had success mounting the bar with euro GT3 seats! I'll go back to the dealer and try again.

From those who have the airbag deactivation bar installed, do you think I'll have to move the fire extinguisher currently mounted on the passenger seat? Picture attached, what's your opinion? Thanks.

There's no problem mounting the deactivation bar.
The rear seat positions have the upper LATCH (tether) welded to the body and all the pre-punched holes for seat belts.
The upper seat-belt recoiler location is behind a separate blank-out trim piece.
Give or take the parts and labor, there's no real obstacle to retrofitting the seat-belts or even the seats.
I decided to just drill the pan and fit lower LATCH attachment points (quarter inch U-bolts) and use the tether point.
Removing the padded carpet and using lightweight carpet (the stuff without any backing) makes it easy to fit Porsche (or Britax) seats into the the available space.
I used a Porsche seat (it has fixed point lower LATCH attachment) to measure the location of the U-bolts. The underbody is exposed in that area. I just jacked up the rear and later ended up with the whole car on four stands to keep it safe while I made it all line up. I still have some work to do, so the next time I get to it, I'll take some pics.
