Sickest GT3 EVER!
Sorry for the cr*ppy pic. I had to shoot thru the glass because by the time I picked my tongue up off the floor and remembered to ask permission to take photos, it was 5PM and the doors to the storage area were locked!
I managed to take these few shots though. These were taken at MANTHEY RACING at the 'Ring. If you don't know who (Olaf) Manthey is, and what his outfit does... you don't know your Porsches well enough!!!
Anyway, back to the car...
It is a 996-based Manthey M440 GT3, but with a custom wide-body kit. Calling it a "kit" is a stretch, because rather than just sticking add-ons, portions of the actual sheet metal are replaced by full carbon fiber body panels. The car is apparently street legal, and 3 have been built to customer specs so far (that's what the nice chap who showed me around told me).
The car was housed in a glassed-in storage area for customer race and street cars. I guess it is open to the public, as they let me walk around pretty freely. I stepped briefly into the actual worshop (i bummed a couple of Manthey Racing stickers to put on my E30 M3) and the place looks like you could eat off the floor. Caught a glimpse of the great man himself, chatting with a customer that had his McLaren F1 modified there, and also had his black CGT and 996 GT3 RS in storage. wonder if he's a 6speeder
anybody know more about the car (wide body M440?).

Great post hesperus! Thanks for sharing.
I'm a big fan of Olaf Manthey and company.
I've seen pics of that McLaren you mentioned. I believe the color was a shade of blue. It had gold BBS rims if I'm not mistaken. I've also seen pics of that black CGT as well.
Any more pics of the shop?
Thanks!
