I have been to over 20 races at road atlanta and have never seen a car get in the inside dirt in 1.

Exactly! I was telling a buddy that I didn't even realize there was dirt / grass between the inside of turn 1 and the wall until we got this video. Of course when you're on the track at that spot your focal point is not the inside of turn 1. hahaha If it is you are already in serious trouble! What a great track man .... soooooo much fun to run on.

There is a difference between performance schools and open track days. if you are attending a open trackday you should expect few casulties.

The vette made that pass with enough room to get in front of the car and "negotiate" that turn, so since the viper was close he should have tried to make the turn going 100?????

I was watching and filming this session and the viper guy was mad that the vette passed him on the previous lap and didnt want the vette to get too far ahead. The vette was about 2-3 lengths behind the porsche entering that straight and the viper was 6 lengths behind, no way he should have tried that move, just pride. Lucky to escape with his britches in tact.

The video I posted on the website along with a description of the setup into turn 1 was taken from the red Porsche 944 (in-car video) shown in the picture at the top of the page. If you click that photo to enlarge it, you'll see the video camera mounted on the roll cage in the 944.

Craig
i thought thats what it was, because i could see some red from outside the windshield. plus, theres no way a 997 GT3 is going to get pulled on by those cars like the 944 did.
