Pics - New Gt3 On Road Atlanta - 12/03/06

Hey guys ... I hope everyone is well.

We "took" the track at Road Atlanta this weekend, with one of our guy's new (white) GT3 just in from Germany last week. What a beast ... absolutely amazing with virtually unlimited power band and handling. Here are some pictures hot off the press from yesterday's run:

http://www.carolinaspeedzone.com/roa...eeles_gt3.html

BTW be sure to check back later this week. I have one of the most amazing in-car videos you will ever see (at least I think so, haha), of a Viper trying to pinch off our Porsche group at the end of front straight into turn 1 and the guy completely loses it ... fishtailing hard left before over correcting and spinning 270 degrees to the right and flying off the track at high speed. Our driver who shot the footage was obviously very P/O'd about the ego-azz move this idiot made. But thankfully he didn't manage to take anyone out with him. I'll have the video on Tuesday and should have it up on the site by Wednesday.

Take care ... Craig

Craig,
Great Pics! I've got about another month to go before mine gets here. The closer it gets, the more time I seem spend here living vicariously!

One quick question. It appears there is some grill/mesh in front of the radiator intakes. Did he add that after he got and the car? and if so, what did he use?

From the pictures, it seems to have at least kept some leaves out of there.

Hey Matt ... great observation. hehe Yea he had that (the mesh work) done here at a fraction of the cost you may have seen "kits" of this nature out there before. Email me directly and I'll give you the details of who does the work here if you're interested. It also LOOKS very hot on the GT3. Another GT2 in our group had it done as well.

Check the photos and video area again in the next couple of days. I have some pretty cool pics (on the track) of the GT3 and our Porsche group running together on Road Atlanta this weekend ... just need to post them to the web (I will Tuesday afternoon). Man what a track RA is ... scary fast and deserves a TON of respect. I absolutely loved it.

He's still breaking in the car (only 750 miles on it) so he was turning only 1:40 laps ... pretty quick regardless but he's having a few chassis adjustments made this week and once the car is broke-in he'll be posting better times at our next event.

Here are a few cool pics coming into the pit (the 3 in the middle of the following page) ... I'll have those other track / group shots up by late Tuesday.

Interesting that he is using stock 997S wheels - they are narrower than the GT3 wheels.

Hold on! On closer examination, those might not be stock wheels at all! If not, what are they?

His GT3 wheels were just painted RED and weren't quite ready to run on the track yet.

Here are 2 more pages of pictures from Road Atlanta ... these are mostly action shots going thru turn 12, down the front stretch, and into turn 1. More pictures and some amazing in-car (must see) video will be posted to the website later today or Wednesday.

Just look for the little NEXT >>> link to view page 2.

If only video came close to capturing the look and feel going into turn 1 at speed ... this does it no justice but you get the idea.

Saw the video. No excuse for driving like that but I must say that the corvette in front of him braked excessively and he did a pretty nice job of avoiding the inside barrier. Could have been a lot worse.

Yea - Kinda looks like the Corvette overbraked and the Viper was just recovering from avoiding a near rear-ender with him. Love the commentary on the video

BTW - Your friends a lucky B@stard to be able to get out on the track already. I was dying to go to VIR last weekend, but still not enough miles on mine (500). I'm waiting 'til 1000 miles, so looks like not until march Pics are sweet!
