959 Pics

There's no 959 section , so i figured i'd just go ahead and post it in the most powerful Porsches section. Anyway, Enjoy pics, Porsche 959, from London spotted in Paris at George V hotel.

Even though I like the 959 I don't think it has aged as gracefully as say the Ferrari F40. I would take the F40 over the 959 if I could afford either one! Actually give me a Carrera GT over either one!

I agree completely. I appreciate the 959 for its historical significance, and the reaction I had to it when it came out when I was younger, but otherwise if I saw it for the first time today it would not move me at all. But the F40 shape is, for me at least, timeless.

Have you seen one in person? It's much more impressive... so wide, so low. I saw Canepa's car in Monterey a few years back.

I guess I'm the only one, but I just don't get that excited about the F40. It looks too "kit car" for me. I think the F50 was the most cohesive "F" car (F40, F50, Enzo). Even back in the late '80s, there was a video game of the 959 vs. F40 - I used to ALWAYS use the 959.

It definitely has a presence not many cars have. It doesn't scream look at me, yet you can't take your eyes off it. Nobody would mistake it for a 911, but everybody would definitely know it's a P-car. It's brilliant.

Thank you for sharing!

It has odd (interesting) properties: As if a 911 had been partially swallowed by something bigger- you can see the 911 resting inside of this larger "animal"

Thanks for sharing. The best Porsche ever. That is a race car! 3.9 seconds to 62, the same time as the CGT.

If you can find one for sale, what do the 959s go for?

cost

My old boss used to have one and about ten years ago he said it was valued at about 200,000 gbp (pound sterling). I remember when they were first out, some were being sold for 1m gbp to Japanese business men ($2M today) I guess the market dropped. My boss still has his and claims it was the last off the production line. Dont know about that but it was a great looking car. I'm not a buff but i think it had a Magnesium body with Bosch parts.
If any one knows I would like to know?

$250K or so... Canepa was selling one and there were a couple in the DuPont Registry. The Sport (or Lightweight) version is very rare... Most are the "Comfort" model.
