Passport 9500i

Hey... does anyone have a Passport 9500i? Mine came today and before I dive in to the manual, anyone have any tips for use?

I'm normally a V1 guy, but I read about the GPS feature and recall a convesation I had with some Highway Patrol friends about using those false alarms to their advantage (Conner Street on 95 in the Bronx, anyone?) and thought I'd give it a shot in the GT3. I've not powered the thing on yet, but it's much longer than the V1 and seems a lot heavier. Also on first impressions, the buttons seem a bit small to me.

(Oh, and I did not see an 'Electronics' forum so if this is in the wrong place, I apologize in advance.)

Thanks. Once you use it for a while could you please post a follow up on your new radar detector. I'm really curious how this compares to V1.

I'm ready for a V1 update. They were years ahead of their time when they introduced the arrows, which no one still has. Wana see Valentine on top of their game.

I am very interested in your experience as well. Can I ask how much you paid?

Everywhere is around $400 right? I am going to wait until next year...so it can work out any bugs if any or software flashes. You know that always do that...the 2nd gen is always safer IMO.

I currently have the 8500 and I contacted escort to ask about compatibility and they assured me its PnP with my 8500 hardwire set up. Same windshiled mount and plug etc.

TIA!

Any word whether it will continue to work with the Passport LASER shifter the same way as the 8500?

Ive read a lot of reviews about this radar detector...

Someone on http://www.radardetector.net/ mentioned that the V1 is great for those that drive on the highway/long distances

The new escort actually has the same "Strength" as the X50 but has more "features" like the GPS. But, since the V1 is mentioned the best for long range, the new Escort is perfect for those that drive short distances and stay local.

heres 1 big thread about it,

IMO, the V1 is still the best as of right now because of its strength. Unfortunately they mentioned V1 currently has no plans for a V2

In due time, Valentine will have to step up and when they do, it will be the best of the best
