Fitting OEM 997GT3 Onto The 996?
I've heard that the OEM 997GT3 shifter is smoother than that of the 996GT3.
I was wondering if the new shifting assembly will fit the 996 w/o mod? Has anyone tried this?

I'm going to wait until Adam does the install, and can compare the 996 GT3 stock unit which he has now to the 997 unit in the 996 GT3 to the 997 GT3 (which he let me drive the other day), which got me started on this.

Shall I start a religious war? For driving, I like the 996 GT3 better. For looks, I'd take the 997 GT3 in a second. (I came out of a 993TT.) Note this is not a track comparison, but impresssions from a one-hour backroads drive near my home. Favorite roads for sports cars and motorcycles.
The v. 997 is more civilized. I think I'd like the 997 on a longer, more sedate (read long highway) drive. Much more comfortable in the non-"Sport" mode. I didn't get as good feedback from the 997 wheel as I do from my 996, but that might change with more time behind the wheel. When I started out, I felt it way too soft, but then realized I needed to hit the "Sport" button. Firmed it up nicely, but, IMO, not as much as the 996. (Anyone know the comparative spring rates?) Again, this may change significantly on the track, or at much higher speeds. I only got to 105 a couple of times on this run.
I like the v. 997 shifter better. Hence my above comment. The brakes grab far too much. Don't know if this is just this car, or common to all v. 997
Compared to mine, it's quieter, doesn't have the same bark at higher rpm's. But I have the Cargraphic mufflers, which Adam would dearly love to have on his 996 (if he weren't selling it).
My $.02
