A friend and I went over today to check the cars out. Honestly, and I think this goes for every Porsche fan, the 959 holds a special place, it was great to see one in a showroom amongst all the new cars. It actually still holds its own and doesn't look one bit out of place. The wheels are the most outdated thing on that car. Although red on maroon cloth interior probably isn't the hottest color combo lol.

The GT3RS looks great in person, some nice details the pictures don't show. I have come to the conclusion that the black version of that car is just too tame, the orange in person looks much better than I thought it would (except this one has the pansy interior with no cage, no CGT seats and an orange center console). Overall great looking car, can't wait to hear one flying down the streets of Boston and see one in green as well.

i went last saturday to check the cars out also.

... well,
actually 959 wasn't my concern,
i was mainly interested in the rs.

rs indeed was a gorgeous car,
the look, stance, fit and finish,
everything was perfect-
i've been thinking rs (or regular gt3...) vs. gallardo,
but f' lamborghini,
i've decided gt3 is the one i want.

now the problem...
maybe the dude thought i wasn't serious about the car,
but the stealership wanted 180 for it.
it had about 110 miles on it,
some scratches on the bottom and the side of the front bumper-
i guess they let those "potential buyers" to beat the car around a bit
then scare them off with mark- ups.

since i saw many of you saying you got the car msrp,
i guess i'll do some more search.

My purchase of the Orange GT3RS

This is a little story I have regarding my purchase of the Orange GT3RS from Herb Chambers Porsche. I purchased the car on Saturday and the following tidbit is what followed and had me a nervous basket case all day yesterday and this morning!!!

I had a PM from one of 6Speedonline's members (not to be named) early Sunday morning giving me some very disturbing news! He informed me that he had heard from a very reliable source that the Herb Chambers Porsche dealership had sold the GT3RS out from underneath me to someone else (also not to be named) for more money than the deal I had made with the owner's son, George Chambers, on Saturday...... essentially stabbing me in the back! To say I was POd, mad, freaked out, foaming at the mouth or slightly upset at this news is an understatement!!!

I told the person who sent me the PM, that I had finalized a deal and that as far as I was concerned, it was a binding oral contract with a man who gave me his word that the deal was absolutely unbreakable. I even asked him if we shook hands over the phone to seal this transaction to which he replied... "We have a deal..... the car is 100% yours!"

What had me perplexed after receiving the PM was that George, Herb's son, had talked to me as a gentleman and I was convinced he was a man of his word! He spent 15-20 minutes with me on Friday talking about the car and how he said it was not sold and I could still buy it for the right price and then I called him back on Saturday and we spent another 1/2 hour or more BSing and finally closed the deal. Is that the kind of person who would double cross me? I sure as hell hoped not!

Well, this morning, I called George at the dealership and asked if everything was OK with the purchase and he said yes, yes and more yes! He said I was easily approved for the loan and he was even able to find me a slightly lower interest rate than the one he had initially quoted me! George then transferred me over to the Finance Manager, who needed conformation of some personal info. Again, sure sounds like a decent and honorable man to me!

Now when the topic of the RS popped up on 6Speed, I read the post with great interest and even ran across a reply or two that said "watch out for this person and/or the dealership." This kind of comment is something that is heard over and over again in the automotive industry! Even now, when someone starts BSing me, I ask them if they used to be a 'Used Car Salesman'! Of course those couple of negative posts certainly threw up a red flag for me and I'm sure everyone else who might have had some interest in the Orange RS. I continued reading the posts and kept debating about whether or not I really wanted or needed the car.

I know from being in business myself, that unfortunately, sometimes rumors (not necessarily vindictive ones) can start and spread like wildfire. I'm assuming that the one that had made its way to me could have started with a person who honestly thought they were in the cat bird's seat as far as purchasing the RS.

I'm not pointing fingers at ANYBODY! I can only tell you the buying experience I had at the Herb Chambers' Porsche Dealership in Boston. I NEVER once had a uneasy feeling that I was dealing with anything but an honest, respectful, good faith and true to his word person named George Chambers! Maybe someone else did at one time BUT I didn't and that's all I kind report back to you.

I'm certainly glad the info I received turned out to be inaccurate because it would have freaked me out to lose the RS. I'm glad George and his father Herb, turned out to be stand-up gentlemen for me and now I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Orange GT3RS. Sorry for being long winded but I wanted to dispel the possibility of my purchase going the way of Hiroshima and blowing up in my face!

To the person who PMd me, thank you very much for your concern. I appreciate your interest in trying to protect me from a deal gone bad and I'm thankful to you for being a friend online.

To the rest of my friends here at 6Speed, hopefully I'll be getting my RS very soon and will certainly do a candid review for all of you after I get some decent miles on her. Thanks for all the kudos on the RS and for being there when I needed info or just to pass the time of day with each other. Magwheel

p.s. I'll be posting this same story on a few other car web forums so please forgive me if you happen to run across it somewhere else! I just don't know how to change the info any better than I did here. Mags

p.s.s. Thanks again to George, Herb and Aaron at the dealership for treating me perfect!

Big congrats Michael!!!!

very bitter sweet for me...happy for you, sad for me
I had the car in my hands Fri. afternoon but I blew it...nobody to blame but myself, the one time I should have listened to my wife

I have decided to get a green RS, I found a dealer with an allocation and I can still spec the car to my taste thank god because I want it loaded
approx. 2 month wait and the same money over as the orange car

I must say that if I lost the car at least a stand up guy such as yourself ended up with it, I am truly excited for you!!!

Hey want to sell it?

Talking Orange GT3RS Purchase Update

I called George (Herb Chambers Porsche-Boston) yesterday to tell him I received the financial papers plus I had a question or two. While talking to him, he said that he had a transporter all lined up and that the guy wanted to pick the RS up yesterday to deliver it!!! George said to him, "Hey... I don't even have the paperwork back yet! You don't mind if I get that and the deposit do you?"

So the deposit and paperwork will get there this morning and they will load the car up this afternoon for delivery maybe by tomorrow or Friday at the latest I think! How's that for a dealer coming through and arranging everything ASAP? He even got me a lower interest rate on the loan than the one he gave me when we closed the deal! Wow!

So far, I am absolutely impressed with George and his dealership, Herb Chambers Porsche of Boston!

I also decided to get the clear protection 'bra'. This is the first time I'm giving this product a try. I hope it works like it supposed to! Also, I'm getting the Lo-Jack stolen car recovery system! One option on the Lo-Jack product I selected was the 'Equalizer' option. After you receive a signal that your car has been stolen, you push this button on the remote and the car and the perpetrator are blown to smithereens (to hell and back)!!! This way you get even with the scum bag and it looks like the guy just blew the car up and got blown up too! Ahhhhh..... just kiddn on the button thing! "Just a joke son.... just a joke!"

To say I'm excited about getting the RS tomorrow or Friday is an understatement! Talk to you soon, Mags
