2004 Challenge Stradale or new 997 GT3?
#61
I had a 360CS for a brief period of time and I own a 997 GT3 now. The 997 GT3 is a better car from a performance stand point or other aspects, such as being a daily driver. I have to say that 360CS sounds better even though I have not had a chance to rev up my GT3 yet due to being in break in period for the first 2000 miles. Also, 360CS is drop dead gorgeous. However, I believe the interior of the GT3 is the best there is, second to none.

BTW, I agree with the post from the other guy that 360CS can be driven daily. Ferrari's are much more reliable than before. The reasons I said Porsche is a better daily driver are
1) you can park it anywhere with no worry, would you do the same with your CS? I would not.
2) Porsche is cheaper to maintain. The CS as a daily driver will accumulate miles and service will be expensive. If you can afford it, then no worries, the car is reliable.
3) Any Ferrari with high miles will lose value. So, don't count on appreciation if you drive it daily.
I am telling you the CS will be a garaged car, used only for weekends. Again, if you can afford it, go for it.
BTW, don't just go based on advertised values for 360CS. The dealer was asking for $209,000 but I negotiated down to $189,000. The car had only 1,200 miles when I bought it.

Is that the same thing as the 430 stradale, if it is, they are. My dad's friend has one on order.

I agree with getting both. I currently have a CS and just got my build day of 5/7 for my GT3RS. I've driven a 997 GT3.. although a great car, it's absolutely no comparison to the CS. The CS is more visceral, direct and MUCH more communicative at the limit. The GT3RS on the other hand will be a good comparison to the CS IMO. To each their own.

actual data is irritating, isn't it, becuase it limits the BS.
but having owned 2 strads for 12k or so driven, and now a 997 gt3, it's a tough call.
if i could have a Euro strad here it would be my choice, but the US strad is a shadow of the euro. the last one I bought [third] i returned, seemed so torqueless for the $.
the US strad and gt3 are pretty close, and right now i'm picking the 3. but you should try them both if you can write the cheque. 3's can be found for window and 120 with PCCB is a great value. Strads are holding up in the 180-190 and may go up when people realise the 430 light pista is not coming to USA
do a search on fchat and rennlist and find the other guys who have owned both. Amir comes to mind.

Very familiar with both cars. CS is a great car, but as a daily driver? Nah, to noisy (yes, it is great noise!) and miles will kill the value. It's a better weekend car (or a great track car if you don't care about re-sale). GT3, love it and use it daily with no reservations (but doesn't stand out like the CS and doesn't feel as much like a race car).
and they are building the 430CS -codes are already in the computer ordering system. But..they are going to be over sticker -from the dealers-on day one. Forget the old ''I'm on the list" or "I have a relationship with the dealer". The F Car factory has loosened the strings on their dealers!

PCH this one is for you.
If you want to blow your money, pretending that you have a fast car, then the CS is for you. Notice this is the OLD GT3 with 380HP keeping up with a 430.
If you want the fastest car and the more competant car the Porsche is for you. If you want to pose and look pretty, then Ferrari is the way to go.
Pretty remarkable that a 380HP GT3 can keep up with the 480HP 430. German engineering at its finest guys.
My condolences.

Knuckle head, that's .
PCH I know what you are talking about and the kind of video that would prove your point.
A vid of a CS and a GT3 parked where people would be oggling all over the CS and ignoring the GT3. And you are absolutley right, people would oggle more over the CS and I'm sure give the guy holding the key to that CS an ego boosting stiffy...
