How to make a Gt3 lighter?
#31
put some light wheels and seats in the car and call it a day.
unless you track as often as grussell, you aint gonna be able to tell 200lbs difference on the street.

Target weight 3000lbs no fuel

warsong and garret, it's got to be lighter than that if you did all that things you listed.
my RS is stock except seats, no pccb
3134lbs with 1/2 tank (longacre digital corner balance scale).

FWIW, I weighed my 996 GT3 a couple of weeks ago and with a full tank + my helmet and some other **** (sunpass, radar detector, CD's etc.) it tipped the scales at 3090lbs.
The car is 100% stock with the exception of Club Sport seats.

With all fluids and a full tank, my road going 996 GT3 weighed in at 2980lbs. I have a few weight saving mods which add up to about 130lbs.
Best weight saving IMO is the rear wheel well muffler deletes. (saves 50 lbs).
Next is to have custom carpeting laid in, and pull out the original carpet+sound deadening. Looks exactly the same and saves about 34lbs.
Proper aftermarket wheels, saves 25 lbs (rotating).
...
Then you should consider the aenima

In addition, if your objective is to go faster at the track you would benefit most from a proper wheel alignment and corner balance; On the stock suspension, I picked up 2 seconds at Eastern creek (1:47 to 1:45) from this alone - more than any other modification.

Become a better driver! You're going to get way more performance out of your car if you improve your technique through professional instruction and practice as opposed to removing weight from your car.

Remove the passanger seat if you always race along..
Also..Remember clean your front bumper every week!!You aussie land has heaps of bugs on the road!!Those dead bug bodys could add 1-2 kgs per week!! (just a joke)

Is that due to more mods or is it another scale. It always cracks me up when people say a 997 GT3 weighs 3075 Lbs. There is absolutely no way that can be true.
What do you guys think a 997 GT3(with and without PCCB) with full tank of gas, full of fluids, with minimal options weighs?
