Dont know about Prinz, but you can drive here on Euro plates as long as the person driving it has a International DL. Just like you can drive over in Europe with USA plates without any problems as long as you have proper insurance.
I had a car overseas with USA plates for over 5 years, BUT I was the only one allowed to drive it.

Cali is just way different when it comes to plates, of course it gives the cops a reason to pull you over if they wanted, but its just not inforced. Correct about the temp piece of paper, its white and the dealer will stick it inside the windshield, I usually have them leave it off as well, and just put in the glove box. I think a lot of guys leave plates off because as soon as you put on the plate it feels like a used car thats not new. I've seen guys roll at least a year without plates, hey it looks like a new car for a year

 

I've sold a few cars to people who decided it was ok to drive without a plate. To my surprise they made it to their destination without being stopped. These weren't quick trips either. I sold a Acura TL about 2-3 years ago to a gentleman who drove from northern CT into NYC for 2 days to visit a friend, then he drove down to a suburb of Atlanta without an issue.

The other instance is when I sold a 99 911 C4 to a gentleman from Texas who happened to be a border patrol officer. He drove from northern CT to texas with only being stopped once, and the statie let him off after showing him his border patrol badge, professional courtesy I guess.
