I am considering getting Volk TE37s for my RS. However, they only come in GT3 offsets for the rear @ 65mm. So I will have to use the 18 mm spacers which will put the wheels within 1 mm of stock. Did you have any issues with the spacers or using longer bolts? Any negatives you can think of?

Porsche sells 17mm as OEM equipment. I went with the 18mm version from Boothe Design because it's forged as opposed to cast (Porsche OEM is cast).

You don't actually use longer spacers with these spacers because they're too thick. Only with 5mm spacers do you use longer bolts. How it works is that you first mount the spacers onto the hub using the stock bolts. And then you put the wheel on the spacers with the studs coming through the lug holes securing it into place using lug nuts.

From my experience, it felt slightly "loose" with the 18mm spacers around sweepers or tight turns. You also add extra weight with the spacers, lugnuts/lug bolts, etc. When I went with the RS wheels, the car felt much more planted.

Atomic,
Thanks for the info. Do you have any pictures of the spacer mounted with the wheel off the car?

I never took a picture of that. I guess I didn't have a reason to but here's a picture from Boothe's website of the spacers. See how it works?

BTW, I think those nuts come off. Those don't actually stay in place.

So you are saying, the bolts of the spacer pictured will go through the holes in the wheels and the 5 holes not being used in the spacer are where the stock bolts secure the spacer to the hub?

Yep! That's exactly what I'm saying. You'd have to buy a set of lug nuts to go with these spacers. My advice is NOT to get the ones that Boothe Design sells. Theirs has the wrong chamfer angle which means the lug nuts will not have completely contact to the wheels when attached. This will result in them coming loose periodically causing a groaning noise. I found this out the hard way. I ended up going with OEM lug nuts from Porsche instead. Check out the picture below.

On the left shows the chrome lug nuts from Boothe, you can see that only the inner edge contacts but the outside does not fully touches. On the right is the OEM black lugnuts from the 993.

Atomic,
Thanks for all your help. I may not be able to use the Porsche nuts for the application I am considering, TE37s. Reason being is that I think the holes in the TE37s are conical in shape and the Porsche wheels are more rounded as seen in the shape of the lug nuts you posted. Therefore, I think I'll need to use the Volk lug nuts which are conical in shape to match the depressions or holes in the wheels.

I am just a little concerned that using spacers this large will be somehow detrimental. However, the stock setup has 5mm already.

There are different systems on the market. i had 17mm spacers from H&R and they came with longer bolts - don´t know if you can tell that one is better than the other.

Stock "rounded" lugs worked fine for my TE37s. In fact, there was a little note saying that "rounded seats" had to be used for these wheels. But Damon at TireRack or Dan at Vivid will be able to confirm for the 19" GT3RS size.
