For me, I just did it for looks and of course some people will like it and others not. I am happy so that's what matters to me.
After talking to my mechanic, they actually use these windows to let hot air out from the inside of the car besides saving a little weight.
As for sacrifice on weather and security, it isn't to me. This is my weekend toy and I would not drive it in the rain and I would never leave the car in an unsafe place and outdoors overnight.
