This thread is epic. Its threads like this that make filtering through much of the garbage posted on the forums worth every second.

Congratulations to you sir, you are living the enthusiasts dream.

I can honestly say this is one of just a few multiple-page threads I've ever read entirely on the 6. Awesome pictures, stories, and so much more!

Thanks for all the kind words regarding the resurrection of this thread. I don't know how many of you noticed, but this thread was started June of last year. At that time I had only had the GT3 for just under 6 months. I now have had the 3 for 16 months and driven it 18,960 miles. In that time I have used up 7 sets of rear MPSC's and 4 sets of fronts. The last set of rears only made it 2441 miles!! Did I mention I live on some twisty roads??I have had 5 oil changes, installed an RS LWF, which is a must for any regular GT3, and had Sharkwerks install their excellent exhaust system, another must for any GT3!!
But the most significant event of the last 10 months was the surprise vist from my Uncle Frank (see the photo attached to post #80 of Frank and I infront of his 1956 Speedster) and his daughter whom I had never meet. It had been 45 years since I had seen Uncle Frank and here he shows up in my driveway driving a 1986 white Targa!!!! We had a great couple day visit. We took a couple drives in the GT3 and hashed over old times. He told me he has 2 other Porsches as well, both 356A's but neither of them running. They are both "project" cars.

So, the future is looking bright. I have deceided to retire and continue to log miles on the GT3 until Porsche comes out with the 998 version. At that time I think I will do a factory delivery and spent some quality time on the autobahn and the Nordschleife. Until then I think I will be very happy enjoying the 3 and making an occaional visit to see what Alex and James have been up to at Sharkwerks. I think I may see a 3.8 convertion in my future. Just to hold me over until the 998's show up.

Your story is an inspiration to us all. Makes me want to go find a big tree and take a picture with my beloved Porsche now.

Great story! My Dad has some great stories but no pictures like you!

Now answer us straight, HOW COOL were YOU in High School! You must have been the King!? Driving a 356 to high school now, hell anywhere, is still ultra cool.

Keep the pictures coming!

You must remember that back in the early 60's was the start of the muscle car era so not alot of my fellow students thought I was that COOL back then. Well, at least not until they took a little drive with me through some of the So. ca. canyons! But I used to get a lot of greif about how slow my Porsches where when it came to straight line speed.

So, in 1964, my senior year I was reading a Car & Driver Magazine where they did a comparison of the GTO Ferrari and the GTO Pontiac. I couldn't stand it!! At the time I had a 1957 silver 356 normal with a roll bar and it was lowered, still worked for Vasek but couldn't resist the temptation, so I kept the 57' and bought this for only $47 a month:

I thought I was pretty cool then!! Hehe. I had the best of both worlds. This photo was taken at the old Lions Drag Strip. That's me in the foreground.

By the way, I just noticed they made a mistake in the High School paper article, my first Porsche was a 1956 Red Cab!!
