Porsche 997 GT2 vs. Ferrari F430

For me, I'd go with the 997 GT2, but why wait. If you've got the means, then buy an F430 and put a Deposit down on a GT2. Enjoy the F430 until the GT2 is ready to be picked up and put into your garage. By then the truth about how good the GT2 is will have unfolded and you can make your final decision whether to keep the F430 or not. It's got good looks, even if subdued, however if you would like to be flashy with one, go with Speed Yellow and yellow accents in the interior. As far as the GT2 sounds, I think Porsche realized that their cars were lacking in that department and that seemed to have been addressed with the GT3's and to a certain extent the 997TT. Based on the video clips I've seen of the 997 GT2 on track, I think they realized people want something that's pleasing to the ear that'll make you say "WOW" when it drives past you. The 997 GT2's got a Titanium exhaust and tips. They tuned it because they knew that was one of the ONLY shortcomings of the 996 GT2 Variant which is why you saw such a huge exhaust aftermarket for the 996TT and GT2's. I have a feeling there wont be too many people changing out the 997 GT2 exhausts, not for a while anyway maybe people will change out the cats for better flow.
About waiting for the GT2 to drop to 125K, I don't think that's going to happen with the 997 variant. From the reports, it's heads and shoulders above the 996 GT2 and without the CGT being in the wings at the factory, their commitment and attention to the GT2 being the top dog will be evident. If the GT3 RS prices are any indicator, the GT2 prices will be astronomical, I can honestly see 250-300K prices being paid for it. The used market I don't think will ever see south of $150, I just think the car is going to be that good. That being said, I think the used market GT2's are some of the best relative values out there for cars of that performance and pedigree. I'd take a used GT2 over a used 360 anyday.

What about turbo lag on the 997 GT2? Is it using the same turbo technology as the 997 Turbo? If so, how is the turbo lag on the 997 Turbo?
The thing I love about N/A engines is that they are always on 'full alert' mode no matter where in the RPM range. I usually prefer N/A engines to F/I and if turbo lag will be an issue on the 997 GT2 I'll have to rule it out.

I would favour clearly the GT2. There is traditionally at least in Europe no better supersports-car to 200,000 euros.
However, Ferrari has managed with the F430 a good car!

Wouldn't the new 997 GT2 be more comparable to the upcoming F430 CS?
And here is a total noob question, but a serious one: If I were to own both a 997 GT2 and an F430 [CS], and I were "drive them like I stole 'em" for say...50,000 miles on both the road & the track, which one would hold up better quality wise in the long run?
That would probably be my pick.
