For me, I'd go with the 997 GT2, but why wait. If you've got the means, then buy an F430 and put a Deposit down on a GT2. Enjoy the F430 until the GT2 is ready to be picked up and put into your garage. By then the truth about how good the GT2 is will have unfolded and you can make your final decision whether to keep the F430 or not. It's got good looks, even if subdued, however if you would like to be flashy with one, go with Speed Yellow and yellow accents in the interior. As far as the GT2 sounds, I think Porsche realized that their cars were lacking in that department and that seemed to have been addressed with the GT3's and to a certain extent the 997TT. Based on the video clips I've seen of the 997 GT2 on track, I think they realized people want something that's pleasing to the ear that'll make you say "WOW" when it drives past you. The 997 GT2's got a Titanium exhaust and tips. They tuned it because they knew that was one of the ONLY shortcomings of the 996 GT2 Variant which is why you saw such a huge exhaust aftermarket for the 996TT and GT2's. I have a feeling there wont be too many people changing out the 997 GT2 exhausts, not for a while anyway maybe people will change out the cats for better flow.

About waiting for the GT2 to drop to 125K, I don't think that's going to happen with the 997 variant. From the reports, it's heads and shoulders above the 996 GT2 and without the CGT being in the wings at the factory, their commitment and attention to the GT2 being the top dog will be evident. If the GT3 RS prices are any indicator, the GT2 prices will be astronomical, I can honestly see 250-300K prices being paid for it. The used market I don't think will ever see south of $150, I just think the car is going to be that good. That being said, I think the used market GT2's are some of the best relative values out there for cars of that performance and pedigree. I'd take a used GT2 over a used 360 anyday.

What about turbo lag on the 997 GT2? Is it using the same turbo technology as the 997 Turbo? If so, how is the turbo lag on the 997 Turbo?

The thing I love about N/A engines is that they are always on 'full alert' mode no matter where in the RPM range. I usually prefer N/A engines to F/I and if turbo lag will be an issue on the 997 GT2 I'll have to rule it out.

the 997 GT2 uses the same Turbo technology as the 997TT to reduce lag and one ups it with the new Manifold technology. You can see the entire new 997GT2 brochure which explains the details of the car here http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-gt2-brochure/ truly seems to be something special.

I'd personally take any Ferrari over any Porsche (price for price range), CGT aside.

I agree most of your words, but for the used market price, by 2012-2013, the price will hit $125K or even lower regardless of the original MSRP sale price or limited amount of the car. I saw a certified silver 996 GT2 on sale for $98xxx at my local dealer(around 30k miles), and it was there for almost 2 months now and still not sold. It happened on 996, and it will happen on 997 for sure(exclude RS).

Well, with a Titanium exhaust I bet the sound will be WAY different than the TT's stainless exhaust.

I would favour clearly the GT2. There is traditionally at least in Europe no better supersports-car to 200,000 euros.
However, Ferrari has managed with the F430 a good car!

F430 for me.. as much as I love the P-Car, there is nothing quite like a Ferrari, especially the sound of the motor..

Wouldn't the new 997 GT2 be more comparable to the upcoming F430 CS?

And here is a total noob question, but a serious one: If I were to own both a 997 GT2 and an F430 [CS], and I were "drive them like I stole 'em" for say...50,000 miles on both the road & the track, which one would hold up better quality wise in the long run?

That would probably be my pick.
