Kain is infamous around these parts
Porsche 997 GT2 vs. Ferrari F430

Keeping pricing aside, even though they will probably be priced quite similar, which car would be your pick?

P will be faster, no doubt, but for my money, there's only one P that captures the F magic. I'd take the 430, hands down.

If you change the question to: 'which one do you pick to drive every day', the answer changes.

You sure a 997 GT3 pulls on an F430? Do you have a video or some sort of test?

I have a 430 and have a GT3RS incoming. Once the RS is broken in a little bit, I'll run some performance comparisons, including some runs at the drag strip, what the heck...in the meantime, both cars have the engine weight in the right place for good traction, they both weigh about the same, the 430 has more horsepower and torque, so it would seem the F car (on paper at least) should do well. On the track, I'll have them out on same days so we'll see how the lap times look. Will check back in with info in September, as the RS is a July 20 build date. Oh, and I drive the 430 several days a week and my 997S about the same - both are just fine as DD's.

Oh, and forgot to add that I think the GT2 will blow the 430 into the weeds. I've got a deposit on one, we can check results if the dealer gets enough allocation for me to buy it.

Everyone is right, the GT2 will absolutely mindblowing as far as performance, it will eat the F430 up .. BUT, the way I see it is, what is its use for? After 3 years of modifying cars to be insanely raw, fast and so on I find myself really questioning why? I wind up hating them and you can't even use the power anywhere besides the track. For me, the way I feel right now the F430 given the choice, for straight up thrill and performance GT2!

Considering the Turbo is yet capable to beat the Ferrari, I'm sure the GT2 will destroy it...
Oh that's a shame said by an italian, but....hey I'm a Porsche fanatic!

Two videos can help us speculate:
Old 996 GT3 vs F430: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mT73PNrKh5k

Old 996 GT3 vs F430 again from a roll: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbtTJ2W4ceg

Waiting for the 997 vs F430, but I imagine it will be even worse for the Ferrari

No contest.

A 996TTS stays with the 430, so a 997GT2? Alot of 430 drivers will have to be getting used to that 997GT2 rear and all those vertical louvre's put in place to ventilate the car's larger intercoolers....

It's funny how in the Best Motoring video they compared the F430 to the BENCHMARK sports car, the GT-3 which is more than half the price! Viva Porsche!

GT3 vs F430

I have to agree here. The GT3 is about the equivalent of the F430. I looked at the F430 and the nice people at the Ferrari boards convinced me to get the GT3. The F430 has more HP, and MUCH better sound, but at the track, equal drivers tend to get slightly better times from the GT3. The GT2 should be quite a bit faster with a proper pilot, but I consider the 996GT2 and 997GT2 to be widow-makers. At $200k+, I would prefer a truck and a track car.

This is no knock on the F430 -- it is a fine machine. I wish they were more readily available. The final number to purchase for me was just a little north of $250k. WAAAY more difficult to get than the GT3.
