EVO Shiftlink

Just replaced the cheap plastic cable end (shiftlink) that attaches the shift cable to the shifter stick. Very pleased with the results...Shifts are more smooth, precise and direct. Gone is the flexi feel of the stock plastic link. No more worries of the stock failing and leaving you dead on the side of the road. :-)
Note: I did not install the short shift kit. I find the throw length of the stock shifter to be fine.

I will put together a install guide with the pics for those who might be interested. Procedure is relatively simple.

The ShiftLink is a nice addition.

Have you driven Turbo with the B&M installed? At least for me, the B&M shifter has been and incredible mod for the money. It shifts very smooth, and with what I would call minimal effort. I wish I had installed it much sooner.

Actually no. The GT3 shifter is not the same as the turbo's stock shifter. I believe it is a 15% throw reduction as compared to the turbo's. Thanks for the tips Dock!!! I am putting an install gallery together to help out others...I think I will add to my signiture an install link to my gallery that contains all of my install dyi's...

gt3-4me is infamous around these parts
rockitman, thanks for the install guides in your gallery. i just installed my gt3 seats and console delete today. i like the cleaner look of the console delete and the added leg room. i'm a bit gunshy of tackling the roll bar install and the local porsche mechanic is a friend so i'll have him do it. i watched him install one in a turbo in an hour, so that convinced me to have him do it. he even used the bolts supplied with the roll bar. since the gt3 needs to have the rear mounting holes opened i'm sure it will take longer. thanks for the tips.

My bad, I forgot you have a GT3.

Although I haven't driven a GT3, the GT2 I drove had a very nice shifter. That being said, I like the B&M on my Turbo better than any shifter I've ever driven.

GT2 has a 20% shorter throw than a Turbo as standard.

If you use a B&M on a GT2 (a friend has got one) you get a very short-shift, which is very notchy and hard.

I assume the GT3 is similar.

I would agree, too short of a throw, that is why I only replaced the plastic cable shiftlink piece with the EVO billet one. Same shift throw length as stiock, but shift is much more precise and will hold up through the dawn of time. It's a great mod. No more fuzzy shift feel...it's very direct. Shifting is no more difficult than stock...

I got the B&M and shiftlink on my GT3. I find it is only notchy and hard to shift when cold. Once everything gets up to temp., the effort is reduced and the notchiness is reduced. Shifts feel very precise and direct and have only improved with time and use.
