11-99 Foundation -- thoughts?

Anyone here have an 11-99 Foundation frame plate on their car?

Any thoughts on that? (e.g., amount to donate to get it, help in preventing tickets, etc,.?)

personally, i think its a good idea. cops are people too and many will probably give you a break if pulled over. anyway, it couldnt hurt right

Belonging does not give you a license to speed. What it does do is help CHP families. I would not rely on being a member to bail you out of a traffic citation.

The cost for my wife and I was $3000 and they send yearly donation request. About eight months ago my wife was pulled over for doing 82 miles per hour in a 65 zone. Never had a citation before and the officer nevertheless ticketed her for 75 over. In fairness to the officer, she never showed him her 11-99 badge. Not sure it would have made a difference.

Agreed that it's for a good cause and not a license to speed. But some of the cars on this forum are flashy and catch people's attention. Interesting to see those links and hear people's thoughts thus far on this subject...

I think it's just reduces your chances of a ticket depending on the cop. There have been times where my dad was pulled over going 80 in a 45 and got a warning, and one time where my brother wasn't even clocked and given a ticket going 75 in a 50 (the cop said if he tried to fight it he would change the speed to 85, after he showed him the 11-99 badge). So it really does come down to the cop, but I still think it's a good thing to be a part of, as far as helping their families.

it "worked" in my supra but i've gotten absolutely no breaks in the porsche. courtesy & respect are probably better deterrents when the moment comes.

I got pulled over yesterday for doing 74 in a 50, on a clear stretch, with 1 other car on an otherwise empty 4-lane road.
My 11-99 frame and badge didn't do jack.

I guess it depends on the cop....

My friend got pulled over several times this year and not all of them are CHP's some were local police and got away with the 11-99 ID everytime...

couple times on the freeway going 110mph, he just got a warning... check his ID and off he goes....

Freeway? It won't do you any good around town with non-CHP. IMO they're cracking down more and more so it's just better to get used to driving within 10 MPH of the speed limit. If you don't you'll eventually get nailed 11-99 or no 11-99.

Save the money and buy a V1 and Laser Park Pro - and dont go over 10mph on the FWY.

This foundation - despite being a very worthy cause - plays very well on our demographic looking to get out of a ticket or two - potentially. As we find however, it does not work that well at all.

I asked my brother-in-law, who is a CHP officer in Northern California, if the 11-99 foundation license plate frame made any difference. He said "what's the 11-99 foundation?" FWIW

I have heard many different responses from CHP officers..

some say they do not ticket 11-99 members......

some say depends on the situation.......
