997 gt3 street use

How many people use 997 gt3 like a street car ( daily use) ?

I do not drive mine to work but I do drive it daily, trying to get through the break in period as fast as I can.

Compared to my 996 C4S with the X73 suspension, the GT3 is actually more comfortable (in "soft" mode, but about the same in "sport" mode. More headroom, more legroom and better seats). I am sure though it is not just the suspension differences which account for the ride quality differences...ie. chassis rigidity, 2WD vs 4WD, weight, etc.

The only real issue is ground clearance. It sits about an inch lower yet compared to my C4S which had the X73 suspension (as above) and also the aerokit. Thankfully, the GT3's front diffuser/spoiler is relatively cheap and designed to be easily replaceable (if you can find a place where they are not back ordered, when you eventually need one).

I could go on about the differences and how much more enjoyable the car is but I would probably not be telling you anything that you have not already read on these forums before.

BTW, I live in one of the plain states and the roads are absolutely brutal.

I drive it every day unless my wife gets it first. She's really into the motorsports and performance. That car begs to be drive and driven hard. It should not be a trophy piece. Enjoy it to the fullest. I can't see ever getting rid of it. I also have an E60 M5 and an RS4 and they have become neglected. This considering the M5 is a 570 hp beast. Porsche rules!

Very comfortable to drive every day except in traffic where the clutch can get real heavy.

Of the people using the car as a DD, are you still using the MPSC tires? It sure doesn't make a lot of sense to leave those on for around town stuff.

2000 miles in 2 months. this is my only car so use it to get to work every day. suburban driving mostly but just used it to drive ny to vt to bring my son to college. all weather and no problems with cup tires in rain. 1st track event this weekend watkins glen.

overall i dont see who would pick a c2s over gt3. these are both supposed to be sports cars not cruisers like old 928 was. $ differential is not nearly enough to justify how special gt3 feels vs other porsches including turbo.

few things could make it better for daily driver. add 3rd traction control setting for bad weather with esp. 3rd psm setting for passenger comfort. thats it for perfect dd. otherwise i hate the exhaust with the valves opening/closing all the time. better with switch unplugged but just want a light, loud system without droning

suspension, brakes, shift, clutch, all perfect. spoiler not issue if take bumps at angle.
