Lambo SL beats GT3RS says Evo mag!

Sounds like they didn't even really like the GT3RS that much. Actually sounded like the tire pressures on the RS were off as they couldn't get the car do do much of anything "right"....Maybe a driver issue....it was slower than the normal GT3 record for same course....too hot for the tires?....who knows....Opinions?

I must say I did see a Lambo SL at Concourso Italiano in the parking lot and it looked the biz. Still too gold-chainey for me.

that's like compare a Z06 to RS. dollar to dollar can't go wrong with the RS. but at the end of the day i'm not surprised which one they pick.

You are correct in the price delta....about $100k....But it wasn't a editor pic...just a best time wins...problem was the RS sounded like it was sorely misbehaving. I'm guessing not likely w/the right shoe in the car or w/o some set up "tire" issue. RS went slower around the circuit than the test of a normal GT3...now that ain't right.

Why is it not right, all of the major tests (i.e. ring) have the normal GT3 as the fastest.

Not so. The Ring time for the RS ia around 7.47 and the GT3 7.49. I believe the Evo drivers are only confirming what other reviewers have found. For a devoted track car, the 997 RS is not much better than the GT3, 997TT or 996GT3RS. It makes one wonder why people are paying insane prices over MSRP for the car. Maybe they like the big whale tail.

People love the RS and I guess that's what really matters to them. But using the yard stick we all do to measure things, it does not measure up to its RS nomenclature. Pitty.

The lambo has more power and weighs less. Shouldn't it be faster given that it's not a badly set up car either? Can't see where the surprise is coming from?

The surprise is coming from the fact that Evo essentially said the particular RS they were using sucked....that's the "surprise".

The ZO6 has 80+hp over the RS, Lambo is lighter and has more than 100hp more than the RS. No surprise that they are slightly faster(they should be much faster!) .

The CLK BLACK at only 70hp more, but weighing in at almost 5,000 lbs (2,000 more than the RS) will have a hard time beating a standard 997!

All of porsches official times that are the fastest have been the GT3 not the RS 7:39.

turn off 4 cylinders on the Lambo and then come again to talk. I don't understand, magazines likes to bash Porsche's but they only challenge them against cars with double size engine capacity.
