997 GT2 or NEW Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4??
#106
LOL you got to be kidding me. LP560 was faster than 997 GT2 on every track during 2008 R&T Ultimate Track Test and finished #1. It has better power to weight ratio and much easier to drive fast due to AWD and mid-engined layout, 9/10 times it will beat GT2 on track and, and unlike the GT2, you don't have to be a professional driver to push it to the limit on track. LP660 is clearly a superior choice for both street and track for most drivers. It looks ten times better too.. nobody will even notice GT2 if you park the Lambo next to it.
Here are the track results BTW:

Of course Id go with the Lp-560, but if I was doing a lot of track racing Id take the Gt-2, its faster on some tracks...but slower in straight line

Sportauto Supertest LP560-4
Here are the key results:
NBR: 7.52
HHR: 1.11,3
0-200: 11.6s
200-0: 133.9m
Speed on Doettinger Hoehe: 288kph
Weight of test car: 1590kg
Obviously, the results are rather disappointing. Even more so as Sportauto tried 3 (!) different LP560-4. The first two had serious suspension issues (very instable setup), the last was better (changed suspension setup!). However, the car suffered from a poorly programmed ABS.
In summary: a total disaster
Ummm what did the GT2 run? I thought so... This is more like real world testing for the cars chassis, suspension geometry and so on with the uneven surfaces, the GT2 is also like 4 seconds faster at 186mph from 0, you guys need to brush up on your research and information!

Eh, Steve Millen is a known dud in RWD cars. Hell, he ran faster in a GT3 RS on that same track. And he drove both of the road courses. He is only really any good in AWD, so that is not a good comparison. I can assure you the GT2 did not get it's proper driving with Millen doing the bulk of the driving on the big tracks.

You take this review as the official, "This Is How It Is" comparison, and yet, throw out 2-3 other just as reliable sources.
Here's a fact. The LP560-4 is just as fast as the GT2, which says a lot considering the baby Lambo still keeps all its creature comforts. The LP560-4 also has a very large amount of potential at putting the GT2 & 430 S away. All it takes is for Lamborghini to start stripping it out because if you haven't noticed, the Superleggera is right there sitting next to the 430 S & GT2 in terms of track times.

Hilarious!

As I said earlier in the thread, 560 is mighty impressive and fast as hell, I had the pleasure of experiencing one first hand , one of the first cars that came into the country, and at very high speeds and vs different cars..
Thing is, the owner and friend has a Superleggera as well, and well the handling impressions were as mine, it's way too soft and undercompensated for it's acceleration.
I was just arguing that it isn't the "track car" people think it is.

If Steve Millen is a dud in a rear-engined RWD car, than I'd say 99.9% of the population would fare even worse. This only proves my earlier point that most non-professional drivers would record a much faster time in the LP-560 than in GT2 on most tracks. If you look at acceleration, R&T got 11.2 @ 129.5mph in LP560 vs 11.8 @ 121mph that C&D got from GT2 . LP560's ~130mph trap speed is extremely impressive and there is no way a GT2 would match that. Again, it is clear that LP560 is much easier to launch due to AWD and e-gear transmission, so it will win 9/10 drag races. GT2 will not only need to hook up well at launch, but the driver will need to shift perfectly every time, and even then you still won't keep up with LP560.

99% of the population maybe, 99% of professional/ advanced amatuer drivers, no.
And why would you compare the fastest lambo time with the slowest time you could find for the GT2? That's rediculous.
I could care less which is faster, I dont know anything about the Lambos except that I wont see any at the track like I will the GT2. So it's irrelevant if the mystical bull is faster because finding them both at the track is about as likely as seeing a unicorn in your back yard.
P.S. The GT2 is still faster.

No I agree , you are right with the last paragraph for sure.

I can't wait till LP560 Superleggera comes out, it will be an absolute monster on and off the track
