why take the plate?
couldnt he have just ran away with out the plate and report it stolen?
cant they still trace the car back to him with the vin#?

LMAO Yeah I heard about it on the news yesterday, they crashed on the 401. Stupid idiots... we were driving on the 401 yesteday to pick up my dad from the airport, but we didn't see it.

yes the vin should be well more than enough to track the owner. at least here in California. and I'd suspect the same thing, to claim the car stolen, and who knows, it might be the case too! and using the forensic finger prints wont be a good argument even though if he reports its stolen, since technically his fingerprints will obviously be all over the car, however if it was a theft, the evidence is too vague, since there are multiple factors, gloves, cleaned it etc.... I was talking to my cousin regarding incidents like this before... she's an FBI agent...
