any suggestions on an 06 Gallardo
My friend and I both own turbo tunded porshes and a we jointly own a modified 06 Z06. We are going to watch the Texas market and see if it gets better and if it does we are planning on getting a 06 Gallardo with the e gear. Any thoughts on the car?

That is a hard question because I am not sure. Low 100's; however, considering I live in Texas and we are not experiencing the recession like other parts of the country nevertheless I am worth half as much or probably lower than that and I speak for most Texans. I cannot imagine what Florida or California feels like unless you entire net worth was in insured bank CDs. Thus, I am not sure the 06 Gallardo coupe is worth more than the high 90's. I own a porsche 997 turbo I am sure my dealer would only give me high 60s or low 70s for it so I have no remorse for the lambo owners.

Well what the dealer would give you vs private party sales comes from two very different purposes, and that yields two very different numbers...
Around here you're looking at $130k-$140k for an '06 with E-gear. So $120k would be a "deal" and $110k would be pretty damn good.

You would be a foul buying an 06 Gallardo in the 130s to 140s. You have to look at the new car prices and then look at the discount from there. I agree on the dealer prices but it does establish a bench mark. All of these cars are toys and that is the first thing to go in a recession. I am a banker and everyone has been hurt by this recession. I might want $90 for my turbo but I am not going to get it. From what I have heard from my car dealers are there have been very few sales to judge a market but the reality is the economy. If the economy picks up the Gallardos will fetch a better price; however if the economy does not improve people will either hold onto the Gallardo or fire sale it. Some people just cannot sell there car because they financed it and there loan is higher than what they can get. Thankfully I paid cash for my Turbo. If Obama gets his health care plan approved then all bets are off. Whether you are a conservative or liberal the health care plan is a game changer and would ruin the toy market.

All I can say is I looked at a lot of local owned Florida banks and all of them looked like **** so the underlying economy has to be feeling it somehow. There might be some insulated people but it is a small group so who the hell is going to use there cash reserves to buy at $130 +. You almost need to buy a new Gallardo at a huge discount with zero percent financing from Lamborghini. No local Florida bank is going to give you financing or if you can get financing than I doubt you would get a good deal so that means cash.

That is the 64 thousand dollar question. If the person that owns the Gallardo paid cash then a deal can be made; however, if the person financed the Gallardo the chances are high that the debt is higher than the cars actual price but the person does not or is not willing to cover the difference. Patience is king at this point. I would not overpay because I do not think the Gallardo should catch that kind of money. Need to find seller who needs the money and has no debt or very little debt. Dealers are a good place to start but getting to the right person who can make the deal is the hard part.

For a very clean 06 egear, low miles, no stories, no paint you are looking at 115k-130k. color seems to dicate price. silver and black can be had the cheapest. The whole thing with paying CASH is the dealer normally makes less money when you buy a car that way. They get a cut from the financing. If you think you can buy a G for much less than that you will be looking a long time as prices have been on the rise the past few months. I paid 120k a few months ago. for cash. price didnt change if I chose to finance. I looked for about 6 months before I found the right one. There are currently very few on the market that have what I described in the first sentence. Don't trust a great deal that may even have a clean title. I almost got burnt!
For your budget you should be looking at an 04' high mileage, with some minor paintwork

Yeah, if you are thinking 'real world' prices are 90k for an 06 SE+ then good luck. I concur with John, if that's what you are trying to spend, then an 04-05 6 speed with some miles on it is going to be all you will likely find. I know they got more expensive later in the years, but I would assume that an 06 e-gear with carbon probably had a sticker in the 200-210 area right? by 07 and 08 they were all pretty much 210+

I think the price is the low 110s for a good car. You are going to have to wait to get someone to capitulate and sell the car but I would not overpay. You are missing my cash point. The person that owns the car has to be able to unload it and if that person financed it that person probably does not want to pony up at the point of sale. There are never going to be a ton of cars on the market because of general low production of high end cars but there are certainly more in the waiting. Not a lot of comparable sales but if you have enough 06s trade low in the low 100s then the market will be temporaily set. I doubt these cars are going to reappreciate. I would be concerned on the quality of an 06 car if it is selling in the 90s.
