lol @ people saying 520hp car is slow. Almost all road tests got a 0-60 in 4 seconds flat with 06 gallardo's and mid 4's with SL63's. Its a high-revving V10, it might not "feel" as fast as SL63 due to lack of low end toruqe, but if driven properly and kept at 7-8k rmp's sweet spot it is faster no doubt.

 

One thing that might be throwing you off is that the Gallordo does not squat and pitch as much as other cars and thus it feels slower. I had a Noble M400 and a GT3 and although the GT3 felt faster to me and all my passengers, the Noble was actually faster day in and day out.

 

Stock Gallardo is totally underwhelming IMO. TT's change everything though.

 

It might do 0-60 in 4.0 with the AWD but for a 520 hp car it feels slow. If you can drive from 7-8k rpm's it is a fun car and it sounds great there too.

I drove the GT2 last night and I had forgotten how bumpy and rough it is compared to the Gallardo. The Gallardo is like riding in a luxury car compared to it.

It is amazing how well the Gallardo handles and how smooth it is under hard TT acceleration.

Remind Lauren she said the "F" word a couple times on her ride through Mexico.

 

I drove an 2011 Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera recently and it is faster than my 2009 LP640! There has to be an issue with the rental Gallardo...

 

Like some have mentioned, the Gallardo would feel slower down low because of the tq difference but there's no way it's slower than your SL63.

I've driven my friend's beat up Gallardo with 95k on it and it's still fast.
So I doubt that the rental car would be in worse shape.

It's sad to say but we're almost like Hondas.. gotta wait for the VTEC to kick in hahha

Totally agree with you AtomicZ, the GT2 and GT3 are harsh riding cars, GT2 even more so.

 

LP 570-4 is not an '07 Gallardo and I have heard they are a good bit faster than the older models. I have not driven one so I can not comment first hand.

Probably not. The '07 Gallardo's only trap 115-118 mph through the 1/4, not exactly mind blowing performance. A stock C63, LS3 Corvette and M3 would all be close races for the G.

 

I am sure part of what I was feeling was the torque difference. It got from 100 to 150 fairly quick. Also, possibly I was not driving it hard enough, ie... keeping the RPMs up in the 6-7000 range. But also I think it may of been detuned or had a limiter. Because it truly was slower than my SL63, at least in the0-60 range.

Another thing... I was told it was an '07 but a mechanic who looked at the picture above said he thought it looked like an '03.

I am glad to hear the newer ones are improved. If I recall correctly the tranny was changed in '08 and made a big difference.
