Not at all. Daniel isn't a customer who asked Nero to push the limit on a bolt-on kit. He wasn't an R&D customer. Kevin tells every customer up front what the limit of the OEM parts are. Some customers choose not to build gear sets for whatever reason and they eventually break. I guarantee you Nero thought what he built was safe. It takes time to test things properly before you should release to the GP - unless the customer agrees to be the R&D vehicle. Some shops are better at representing reality than others.

So everyone is clear the limits of the factory engine has been discussed to every client who calls. Its nothing new, its common knowledge on the Gallardo's that even factory motors with no modifications break connecting rods and even have piston ring issues. You can read about it on almost any forum that have discussions on Gallardo's.

We've got 2 car's running very hard consistently and not had an issue. During motor tear down we do feel the rod's are the weak point, but at the 750hp level don't feel there is much concern. If this is something that you would worry about I always suggest moving to Stage 2 with a built engine which also includes a warranty that covers all parts purchased. Stage 2 makes 900whp

That is what is causing a majority of your rod failure. Some people will break off a rod bolt. Some people will break off the small end of the rod. Basically if you treat the motor right you will get a lot more life out of it.
We did multiple things to see what the Gallardo motor is made of. 1 took it apart and inspected the components to get an idea of the weakest points. 2 took my personal car to higher limits then we would rate them at to see if we could cause failure, we had no failures.

Sorry about that--Gallardo made a very conservative 775 wheel HP on 101 degree day at 10 lbs of boost. Currently I usually refer to estimated flywheel hp due to all my cars being tuned on different dyno's with widely varying temps/elevations/conditions.
I plan on dynoing all my cars within the next few weeks on the same dyno with same temp/conditions so I can get better benchmarks/comparisons and then will refer to all by wheel HP. Then will be getting 60-130 pbox times of each for an even better comparison.
I only run fuel I can get from local pumps as I refuse to deal with the hassles of race gas. We have 93 octane here and E85, which the Supra runs on.

Bottom line for my comment is if the rods are the week point on the engine 775hp is more conservative that what others are running. The block and rods don't know or care what type of fuel or boost you are running as long as you have a proper tune, a/f, egt's, etc.
