Well, the wheels are certainly lightweight. However, there are many forged aluminum wheels available in this weight range.

For example, the 19x8.5 OZ Superforgiata weighs 16.1 Lbs and is TUV Certified: You can buy a set from Tire rack for $6000.

Don't get me wrong, I think Carbon wheels are cool. But $15,000 a set and almost no weight advantage and no TUV testing?

I totally agree with you. Furthermore, all the "Epic this/epic that/my nuts are epic" is really unnecessary. There's nothing extraordinary about wheels and bolts...seriously, especially these ones so to the OP do us a favor and take it down a notch or 10

Our Superforgiata is definitely a player in that weight category, and yes they are less expensive. But, I'm sure we can all appreciate the effort to pioneer a full carbon wheel that holds up over time. So far nobody has been able to. Our hats are off to Carbon Revolution if they can pull it off. Well done, I think the carbon wheels are NEAT!

 

Ok, stupid question, but how is that carbon fiber material enough to support the weight of the entire car?

 

Its not 100% completely CARBON. It has a metal plate behind the center of the wheel and inserts for the wheel bolts to attach to. Really cool looking wheel.
