We just got back from a great weekend at the SHIFT-S3CTOR airstrip event in Coalinga, California. What an amazing venue with beautiful mountain views in the background, a huge runway, a big line up of cars and overall great crowd of participants and staff.

The event was structured a little different than the previous events we have been to and was a neat experience. The Shift-S3ctor event was setup to have two parts to the competition, Saturday was designated for open runs / testing and the Trap Speed Trophy Competition.

Al from AutoSource Dallas made as many passes as they would let him in his Stage 3 Dallas Performance TT Gallardo and got faster as the day went on with a best of 202.33MPH. Some great driving dude!

We also brought a brand new RS1 package (1600whp+) Dallas Performance TT Gallardo. Our first pass was a low boost shake down pass and we went 203.X MPH. The car felt awesome, and we had a TON of power left to go. We made a second pass at about 1pm Saturday on a mid boost setting and ran 220.15 MPH setting a new record for the half mile. At this point the Shift-S3ctor officals came over and gave us a stern talking to and reminded us that we were required to have a 4 point roll bar to go over 200 MPH at this event and that we would not be allowed to make any further passes (sorry Ryan and Jason).

Even though we had the fastest MPH of the day on Saturday, since we did not have a roll bar in the car we were disqualified and the Trap Speed trophy was awarded to another very fast car owned and piloted by Stacy Barnett, congrats Stacy on your 215mph pass Saturday.

On Sunday the event was structured to be a Roll Racing Trophy Competition and was broken up by classes based on FWD/RWD/AWD/Naturally Aspirated/BMW/AMG/and Overall. This is a really fun part of the event and we raced anything that wanted to race us. Dallas Performance took home the trophies for the AWD class and also in the Unlimited class Roll Racing Event and we were undefeated in our races.

While we were running the Roll Racing Competition, Stacy and UGR team worked hard Sunday and made several passes and at about 3pm Sunday he did beat our 220mph pass with a 224mph pass. Great job guys.

These cars are getting fast and we look forward to the next event!

It was a great weekend indeed! Thanks to Taylor for all the help and the dedication to meet all of my goals. This car is super reliable and consistent. I love it!

Looks like a great weekend!! Congrats on your wins. This may be a stupid question but why would you not have a cage is a car capable of those speeds? Seems to me like its a no brainer!

 

Cage in a car I mainly drive on the street is more dangerous... In a minor or major accident, if I hit my head on the roll cage while on the street and not wearing a helmet, I could be knocked unconscious and or worse split my head open way easier. Not much head room in a Gallardo so you can imagine how bad it would be with a cage.

But, if the car is mainly used at events etc. then a cage is a no brainer...
