Had a chat with my dealer yesterday, he strongly advised against any interior with a non-black dashboard. They've had more than a few customers return cars to have black ones fitted because the glare on an even remotely sunny day was too dangerous (unless you were wearing polarised sunnies).

Shame then that the only multicolour scheme is red/black - looks great but it requires full leather (total extra cost AU$8670). Maybe more will be introduced later, there are promo renders and photos of white/black, white/agate grey, and espresso/black

It is true that glare can be a problem. It depends on the person if one is bothered with it. I hate glare, so I always prefer a black dash, but even with a black dash, the glare is noticeable, at least in a 991. It strongly depends on the angle of the dash compared to the windshield. If that angle is the same as the Macan's base the Audi Q5, than there is less glare than in a 991 (I own an SQ5).
The dark colors have the least glare. Espresso has the same glare than black (Porsche's black is not real black but more like very dark grey). Agate grey has slightly more glare, so the two-tone agate/pebble grey that will be available in march has more glare than the black/red.
To say that it is dangerous, is fulsome. If it was dangerous, they wouldn't allow Porsche to sell cars. Porsche themselves warn for the glare on light colors in their brochures, but the dark colors are not really a problem. There will always be glare in every modern car, unless the windshiled is in a 90 degree angle to the dashboard

For a two-tone, you need indeed a full leather interior, but personally I would always go for a full leather interior, regardless which color. It just looks so much better IMHO.

Wife has come around to red/black so we've decided to go full leather and get the red/black I'm not sure what else is covered in leather apart from the seats and the dash though (macan configurator is only sorta clear)

Looking at the Cayman configurator and there are soooo many more colour combinations to choose from. That said I like the red/black so I'm not unhappy

I think you made a good choice there red/black looks awesome.

I did make a sheet for the 991 regarding the various leather interior choices and what gets covered in leather, based on drawings in the German pricelist. Unfortunately, the Macan pricelist doesn't have these drawings/explanations yet, but you can probably compare the different interiors with the 991.

There will be more colors available later on, also more options to get parts covered in leather (such as the plastic bits on the dashboard, which are mostly the main causes of the glare). That's one of the reasons why I've deceided to not go for the Macan yet. I want to wait untill most options are available (and engine choices).

wow awesome work there suzy! a swiss female petrolhead who knows a porsche inside-out.... i'm in the wrong country :P

using the 3d configurator i was able to deduce the following for our trim options:
1) "partial leather seats" = leather seat bolsters (alcantara seat faces)
2) "partial leather seats with leather package" adds leather seat faces, leather armrests, leather centre console lid, leather dash trim almost up to the windscreen
3) "leather interior" adds leather trim to doors, one just after the window and another below that, and leather on the storage lid under the pcm

i wouldn't be surprised if more colours come out but i happen to really like the black/red there has be at least some sense of occasion otherwise i think much of the 'reason' is gone

I have two tone Umber / Tartufo interior on my cayenne, and have almost no glare. Of course, it is leather, not plastic. And I am in very, very sunny Houston TX.

Perhaps the leather dash is the key.

Went into the dealer today to get my spec in (no hurry but might as well) - black leather dash if this isn't glare-proof, I don't know what is
