BMW 2014 X5 5.0 0-60 Competition ?
Not saying I'd buy the X5 overweight pig as it sure doesn't handle like a Macan or even Cayenne but look at these 0-60 times... it's crazy fast for such a big SUV.
What the heck will and new X5 M do?

It is very quick but I'm not intersted in even the slightest. Why? I think these two quotes from the same C&D article summarize my feelings quite well:
"The $88,475 X5 50i tested here showcases gains in electronic convenience and safety features while all but ignoring BMW’s fundamental pursuit of fun-to-drive attributes."
and
"Lows: uncommunicative steering".
I own and love an E90M3 sedan but find precious little in BMW's current portfolio of products enticing. Good steering and sharp handling used to be BMW hallmarks but they have gained market share (which I admit is the point of a business) by refocusing on technology and pampering at the expense of driving dynamics. I hope, hope, hope the the new F80M3 reverses that course.

Looking at your other cars, I can't believe how many M's you've had! But that Targa looks fabulous, especially with the terra/black interior. I had an 07 T4S in GT silver. Loved it, but yours would be a dream in that combo. Hope you're keeping it?

Ya too many M's. Well sorta. I am glad I got a taste for the last of their N/A engines. Loved the e90 and e60 (e60 was more luxurious but I preferred the e90 both had amazing engines). The e46's were good cars too. As for the Targa 4s, it is my favorite by far and I do plan on keeping it indefinitely. I really should post up some pictures. It is in right now having tint added to the windows and clear bra to the headlights/windows.

Looking at those acceleration times, it must be that C&D is using the 550i Xdrive sedan times, which has the same engine but weighs 700 lbs less. BMW website listed new X5 at 4.9s and 550i Xdrive sedan at the same 4.3s, so there is a huge discrepancy here which must be discredited. Logically, the new X5 with 440hp cannot be faster than the current X6M with 555hp. Specs listed for X6M is 0-60 at 4.5s so clearly 4.3s for X5 is far out.

From 4.9 to 4.3 is not 0.2s difference!!!

If you buy a car on 0-60 times you will be missing a lot. At some point you will need slicks like fuel dragsters use to bring times down. Those tires need to heat up to glue themselves to the road. I drove two Cayenne's at the dealer back to back one had PDCC and PTV the other did not. What a difference. It was like two different vehicles. This was on the street in the city at almost legal speeds. I was on a service road never went over 60mph but probably 15 over the limit. I would pick those two options over a bigger engine any day. Not up to my 911 of course but were talking a 4500 lb truck. WOW

So. And your point is??? I don't own the BMW X5 but I have a Jeep SRT-8 that is supercharged and pushing 650hp. Sure the gas mileage isn't great but it sure is fun to drive... and beats most cars off the line and even at a roll. Guess not all of us needs Porsches... for 40 years... to feel good about ourselves.
