It usually takes a full day, but I like to leave room to wrap up loose ends with a second day.

Well F1 cars arent supposed have the flywheel resurfaced because it is dished but they shouldnt say you need you unless they have seen the condition of hotspotting on it. I have heard of people resurfacing them in that past but I do not know how that went. I have replaced the pilot bearing in many QP's just a a precaution you are there and it would suck to have to go back. Also the thing you have to consider is that you should do a proper clutch setup with a kiss point adjustment after install. It also makes sense to check the runout of the torque tube. Many people do not support them correctly and it can cause excessive runout. A good job was done by the tech doing the clutch in the pictures. The stuff I am suggesting is a little bit overkill but it makes sense to do it where you are there at an additional cost of course since there is more labor involved.

The QP is on my list of cars I'm casually browsing, how long do the F1 clutches last with spirited street driving? In other words NO track time.

We have have a QP that comes into our dealer regularly and he is at 20,000 with original clutch, and he does not drive it on the track

It would be nice to have some feedback from all types of driving. (abused/track, church-n-home styles) Upgraded units available?

I might forget something in my upcoming rambling, so check out maseratlife.com, they have a good forum with tons of info on prolonging clutch life in the QP.

Never drive the QP in AUTO mode, avoid using reverse as much as possible and especially on inclines. AUTO/Reverse wear the QP clutch down excessively because of the slipping that is involved. I'm unsure why it acts like that in Reverse gear (can someone explain?), in AUTO mode it slips a lot to provide a smoother transition.

***Always drive the QP in Manual mode with Sport ON!***

Spirited driving is good for your Maserati! They are cars that act better when you drive them more often. Always shift above 4000 rpms, who cares about gas mileage because the car only gets 9MPG anyways! Higher RPM shifting = quicker shifts = better clutch life.

Avoid stop-and-go traffic. If you do get caught in it, keep the shifting and downshifting to a minimal. Try and keep a distance between you and the front car so you have enough room to "punch it" and get into first gear as fast as possible.

I've heard the DBW (drive-by-wire) module upgrade can improve clutch life, it is about $1200.

The stealer is usually wrong, but they are right on this one. When you change your clutch, you should change the bearings, not sure about the flywheel though? The bearings go, and you don't want to have to open the clutch just to replace those!! As for the flywheel, why would you need to change that as it doesn't see much wear?? Thats weird...
