06 Mas Grandsport vs. 05 Porsche

Morning!

Brother is all worked up about the Mas Grandsport, an 06. I, of course, prefer Porsche, but what do i know. I am a cool aid drinker

So, should he avoid the Mas for a reason? Service? I have to admit, they are beutiful cars, sound realllly nice, and are fast. Like the interior alot, but he is concerned on reliability and service costs.

It isnt going to be a daily driver, most likely weekends so milage wont kill him, and im sure he will go through a dealer, for the warranty.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

As an owner of both in California, I can tell you people are mre impressed with the Maz. Maintenance wise, they're the same. Performance is better in the Porsche. Stay away from the F1 transmission and get the manual

Ken,

why stay away from the F1? Reliability or personal?

The maserati is only available in F1.. there is no manual for the gransport.. for the coupe yes.. but not gransport

my gransport is a car that I will likely drive 10-20k miles a year.. I have driven mine about 7k miles so far and I have to tell you.. no mechanical issues as of yet.. I use "auto" mode often in traffic and it's smooth.. other than clutch I wouldn't say there is much maintenance involved.. I did the 18.5k maintenance job for about 1,400.00

GranSport

My GranSport is an 06. No issues. I had an 02 before the 06. Avoid the 02 as it was the first year for the car. I was not satisfied with the f-1 in the 02 but it is just fine in the 06. Currently have 13k miles.

honestly i love both cars, but i am a porsche guy to the death. My best friend traded in his 07 bmw 550 for a gransport, 06. They have a nice big engine and accelerate pretty quick off the line, but i dont know why the value drops so quick on these cars, plus his f1 transmission went in 4 month. I blame it on him though, he rode around in f1 sport mode all the time, lol. It was nice to drive and press on the gas while in motion and cause the tires to peel. My thought is that the car come with a 2 year unlimited mile warranty vs porsches 4 year/50,000 mile warranty. If you are going with the look the gransport is different, and doesn't have the classic look that i love about the porsches.
P.S the dealer went half on the f1 transmission, Ferrari/Maserati in Greenwich, CT so +1 for them for that.
What is he looking to spend?

Maserati Warranty

Maseraty warranty is also 4yr/50,000miles. They also now have a manufacturers certified pre owned program. I beleive it is only on the 08 forward though.
