New Small Maserati

Does anyone know anything about the new smaller Maserati, which is said to be a competitor for Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series and Jaguar XF?

I also see odd bits of info on a new small Maserati coupe.

Here are impressions I have found of both :

My guess would be that those are fake. The smaller coupe is obviously based on the Ferrari California.

Found this regarding Fiat's 5 year business plan, presented by CEO in April 2010 :

Pricing to be 55,000 euros (around $74,000 us), and details to come at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show.

Now it's starting to look interesting... Especially how it says "New Ferrari Enzo 2012".

Regarding the pictures though, those are probably some random renderings from someones Photoshop. I'm guessing that the new models won't really look like that.

Ex. when searching for the Ferrari Dino on Google, it shows pics of the "new Dino". Just different Ferraris mashed into one car basically.

The idea is not bad, but I think this might lower the overall value of Maserati, if you can buy a Maserati for 55.000 EUR new.....
If you pay 55.000 EUR you get a pretty new Quattroporte now.

Maserati is something special and shouldnt be a everybody's car.

Same with the Porsche's idea to make even lower entry Roaster on the base of the VW Roaster 2012. The boxster was only the start

Just my opinion

The new car will be a 4-door E63 competitor based on the refreshed Chrysler LX platform with a Maserati/Ferrari V8. Its coming so Maserati can grow some market share a few points.

Fiat just bought the old Bertone plant outside of Turin to build this car, a Lancia ,a RWD Coupe and Cabriolet Chrysler and the Alfa Romeo Spyder. All will be LX based.

However, Marchionne just mentioned that it might make more sense to build a couple of them in Brampton, Ontario where the 300C, Charger and Challenger are built.

Details will become more clear in a few months.

I agree, they should keep aiming at a more selective market preserving the status of the brand

Never thought much of the Maserati's myself, but something new from them would still be nice to look at.
