Solid Axles for the win!!!!
My '96 Lexus LX 450 with ARB steel bumpers, warn winch, OME lift, 37" BFG MT's, ect was the last toyota built with solid axles. It also had locking differentials (front, rear, and center) from the FACTORY!!!
It handles like crap though, when stock, now it is worse.
SUV's should still be built with solid axles front a rear, only 3/4 and 1 ton pickups have them now.
You cannot hurt a vehicles with solid axles front and rear

thanks RE5PENT for the info but I'm in Australia.
I've just found a contact here which I'm about to call.

I'm told they can get me a new Widestar. or do a Brabus upgrade on the ML63.

a friend has a convertible G wagon that rocks. what guys don't know about these cars over the Cayenne's is they handle out of the box. i followed one through a twisty 50 mile corridor one time that held 80mph plus the entire way. 5000lbs or whatever they are it almost never showed body roll a bit. unfortunately for Porsche the Cayenne is not that calibre. the G wagons are a big box but they move out. probably the best Mercedes built for the price tag.

You've got to be kidding!! Although I love the G, (owned several) the solid axle suspension dates back to 1979 and has to be one of the roughest riding and worst handling vehicle's on the planet. The Supercharged G55 is for sure fast and absolutely a blast to drive, but only in a straight line.
