If you care about that then you are looking at the wrong car. I just bought my e63 and its still in break in period and the mileage is horrible. Knew that before i bought it so doesnt really matter to me
I think the e55 is alittle better but not by much
Cant have a 500 HP car with good gas mileage-

Here's my mileage on the AMG's.
2004 E55 16mpg combined city and freeway
2006 CLS 55 17 city, 21 on trip to Vegas (wife driving)
2008 CLK 63 Black 9 mpg last tank. This car should be illegal it's soo much fun. Impossible to not hammer the throttle every block.
2006 C55 20 mpg city and hiway. Great milage and that's not babying the car.

Horrible gas mileage. I'm getting about 14 MPG in my 2008 E63. I've NEVER complained about gas, but with "Big E," for the first time in my life I'm saying, "this isn't good." Can't wait til mass transit hits Seattle in 2050 (scheduled for 2009, but I'm realistic)

I just got my car and I am averaging around 14 mpg with break in. I hate to think what is going to be when I can really start driving the car and take it past 4500 rpm.
All in all I love my car. So much more comfortable than my Porsche and has all the little gadgets that make my life so much easier.
How cares about gas mileage when you know you can pretty much beat any car on the street light to light.
If you want a car that si comfortable and seats 5 then go get one. No complaints here

I just past mybreak in and I am getting around 12mpg on my 63. I do alot of street driving so I figure highway would get me around 16-18. The seven speed tranny works great on the highways, keeps the rpms at 75 mph at 1.5K
