Is it true that they are due to come out late December this year?

I have a CLK Black and still wish the car was a little lighter. I know it has lots of extra HW on it to make it track ready but the Porsche manages to get the GT3 down to just a bit over 3000 lbs. It would have been great if MB had got the car down to 3500 lbs. I expect the SL Black will be over 4000 lbs.

I've got a deposit down, but the dealers don't have any info yet. My guess is the release will be at the Frankfurt auto show in the fall. AMG certifed dealer program will clarify this when they open in a few months. I'm not as enthused as I was when I first saw the CLK63 BS but I want to be in line. In fact, the Ferrari California thats coming out in '09 will be in the same price range.

I've been more than impressed with my CLK63 BS as a street and track car so AMG knows what there doing. The 4000 lbs figure is with a full tank of gas and driver. Porsche's optimistic weights are dry, and virtually impossible to duplicate. My concern with the SL will be the heat sink that seems to hamper the performance when you start tracking the car on a hot day.
