keep up...Yes

63 line will keep, modded 55 can be insanely fast, 600 line will smoke it on a straight away...65 line you go bye bye...

Power is only good for straight aways

CLk 63 Black Series will stay with it and edge it in the corners.

Is it the weight that kills the speed in the corners or just the turbo being awd and really having that as it's strongpoint.

Only the sl65 could actually run with a turbo, but any 55 with mods could. Mercs just have too much weight to really match a 997tt.

CLK63 won't keep up with the turbo with equal drivers and conditions, usuaully they only run like 12 flat in the 1/4 mile. Any 600 or 65 will run with the turbo no problem, especially chipped. Even the heaviest S600 can run very low 11's at 123mph+ with ecu tune...

CLK63 Black will beat a 996TT through the corners and on a drag strip.

I've not driven the 997TT to compare but others have commented that the Black Series is sharper edge to edge than the Turbo is.
At the strip, the Tip Turbo wins.

These are comments on stock set ups.

Sorry, btu I need proof. The CLK63 black is a barge compared to a 996tt and certainly no match for a 997tt. I'm throwing the BS flag on this one. The clk can't even hit 4 sec in the 0-60

i bought my 996tt modded and my S65 can't keep up, but with a stock 996tt i think i would take it. then again the S65 is a very very heavy car.

Lots of apples & oranges here. Head-to-head in a variety of conditions would probably yield a mixed result with the cars mentioned. As we all know, modding cars changes the equation very quickly and there's not too many that are as easily modded as the Turbo line. Stock to stock is a different story b/c 996 TT is basically 8+ years old at this point, 997 TT is 2+ and SL 63 Blk is new. Even though they cut blk's weight it still has to be on the wrong side of 4000 maybe? I'm sure it drives like a very powerful and sure-footed GT, but a sports car it ain't. For the price it should be compared to a 997 GT-2, which would probably whip it's *** in most categories. Even though Porsche's Turbo once was the epitome of a sports car, it has ballooned and softened since the 993. It certainly is no longer a pure sports car. In everything but maybe 0-60 & 1/4 mile, driver would make the most difference.

Sorry Rodney but if you had driven the the CLK Black Series you'd know.
Ask around to those who have seat time in both, stock to stock the CLK Black will beat the 996TT.
MB puts the 0-60 at 4.1, they're generally conservative.

rodney,
I've driven all the turbo's and Gt3's on the track (road race) and the Clk63 BS will best a 996tt on the track not by a little. Before you call it a barge you might want to weigh a turbo tip in full dress, it'll be over 3800.
The difference is AMG published weight is with driver, 90% full tank and 22 lbs of luggage porsche's weights are dry and without driver, fuel etc.
I've clocked 10 flat 60-130 gps which is on par with a 997tt (stock) and ran 60-160 with a 997tt on the autobahn dead even.
For the guys that drag race they've posted 11.8's at 118. C&D recorded 3.8 0-60 which is really meanless as it's a traction dependant.
My last track day I had great runs with 997 GT3s. The fact is the CLk63 black is easier to drive fast than the porsche.
The Black also turned a 7:45 at the ring which is 997 turbo times.
There is more to cars than just numbers. Almost every CLK63 black owner has had or still has a turbo porsche, which usually doesn't get driven after you have a Black.

why would MB provide weight with driver, fluids and luggage? i was not aware of any manufacturer that provides anything but unladen weight. where are you getting all this information?
