performance wise, apart from a minor low speed accelaration advantage for the cgt, the SLR is just as fast and there is actually nothing between them on mid and high speeds.
The SLR has a phenomenal torque and in gear accelaration and braking power.
the cgt im experience is a far more limited usage car with its difficult clutch and low clearance nose, does sound better though...
The other night i did a run in a cgt against a normal SLR and at 328 km/h on the speedometer the SLR was side by side (he did read on his speedo 340km/h though)
Again imo the SLR is a much more of a "real"car which match up the cgt top performance without all the hussel and that what i wpould have bought, maybe a 722

those are good to know. But are there even any 722 in the market for sale? I don't think I have seen one.

Very different cars, but heres my 2 cents.

SLR, Very good car, but not a drivers car. If you are looking for a good(expensive)daily driver then this is the car. If you want automatic and great(expensive)modding potential with great str8 line performance then this is the car you want.

CGT, Nothing like it, its a true drivers car, considered the widow maker. You cannot drive this car everyday unless its 5 mile commute. It has good modding potential, but NOTHING like an slr or a 997tt to be honest. This car you buy for the weekends and to just have a blast. You will have way more fun in the cgt then the slr, that is for sure.

At the end of the day its your call, but I am more of a driver guy and would get the cgt just b/c of the high fun factor and the sound of that car makes you want it over all anyways.

How about the upcoming SL65 AMG Black Series? It seems to have similar performance to the SLR. Looks even more aggressive and handsome.

SLR is more a gran turismo, while the CGT is a sportscar. The CGT's clutch is something you have to get used to.

The sound of CGT is too good to consider any other car.

Modding potential by far the SLR.. You would have a beast with that car if you mod it and what renntech has to offer on the car I dont really see anything beating you on a Daily commute not to mention you still have driveablity everyday. Not CGT is a classic not to mention the sound of that V10 is pure sexy.. If I could chose at the end of the say I would go with the CGT and put some straight pipes on it and call it a day.. IMO

i have an slr 722.

let me just say you will in no way be disappointed with an slr. i dont know of any owner who has not liked the slr.

its a monster with huge power and awesome handling when you want or an easy to drive cruiser when you dont.

the cgt is a very very cool car.

If it was to be the CGT, it'd have to be done like VRAlexander's; probably the best looking one I've ever seen.

For me, though, I'd choose an SLR. Something about that car has always blown me away. Like the others said, an SLR is more driveable with the crappy roads we have up here.
